Dear Tadgh,

Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for giving the Darlo supporters something to sing and smile about this season. It was good to see one of our players actually trying during games in which Steve Staunton was in charge. As you are aware, you have scored a few goals towards the back end of this season and I think it's fair to see from the off set you were using Darlington FC as a "stepping stone" to bigger and better things.

This is fair enough, however you are not as good as you think you are. You simply rate yourself far highly than what you are. We have heard rumours about Preston and Swindon being interested in signing you on for next season.

Well, I hope you enjoy warming benches Tadgh but I suppose you have plenty of experience towards the back end of your Shamrock Rovers career.

Why are people so suprised players move on? Football is business - if someone offered me more money I would weigh up the pros and cons and move on if I thought it was the right career move.

As stated in the echo he is in constant contact with Staunton who wants both of them at his next club. We need people in the dressing room who will give 100% to get us in the league again. There have been too many arseh*les playing for us this season and what have we achieved?

The thing that Mr Purcell has forgotten is that no club has actually come in for him yet.
So when his contract expies and he is no longer a Darlo player doesn't that mean that he will not be getting a wage.
Clubs may have expressed an interest in him but until he speaks to another club he will be twiddling his thumbs hoping that he has not made a mistake.
I dont think he will find a club very soon and may start to think about the offer from Darlo with a bit more interest when he is sat on his arse playing the X-Box.
Preston & Swindon have cooled there interest in him.

He has shown that he is capable of getting goals at League 2 level and he's on a free, so he should get himself a League 2 club without much effort.

Whether the pay and first team opportunities will be to his liking is another matter...

u know the saying 'u reap what u sow' well i said it at the time and i'll say it now no half decent player will show any loyalty to darlo after the fozzie situation, a situation that could affect the club for yrs to come, purcell owes us nowt, if hed have been shite, he wouldnt have been given more time to prove himself, hed have been straight out the door, so it works both ways, purcell signed a contract, hes honoured it, more than darlo did with fozzie!

rubbish, i cant think of many players that will change their views on darlo after the foster saga, davey had it dead right in an interview the other week when he said footballers are out to look after number one and thats it. there are very few exceptions to the rule these days.

fair play to purcell he's always said he wants to play at the highest level possible - there's nothing wrong with that, i'd rather that than someone like darryl clare who has spent his life in non league so he can pick up more money.

id fully expect purcell to contact to darlo if any better offers werent forthcoming higher up the pyramid (i do expect him to get a better offer tho)

Can't say I'm overly bothered to be honest. The way he has clearly played for himself in recent games has been a little bit shameless but each to their own. I did think he was a touch overrated on here aswell.
