And so it comes, 20 years of our second life in the Football League draws to a close. Let's have some memories from you all - since May 1990, what have been the most vivid, the moments you will never forget

I'll start with a few:

Robbie Painter's equaliser at Leeds
Marco trudging off at Wembley, never to be seen in a Darlo shirt again
Paul Alcock's refereeing performance at Scunthorpe
The "start" of the demolition of the old East Stand at Feethams - covered live by TFM?? :wtf:

Only been supporting the lads since 2000 but the one memory that stands out is Peterboro away the other season, we beat them 2-0 with Kennedy and Cummins scoring, was a brilliant day out all round, about 800 Darlo fans there

Wainy's flying header in the last game at Feethams.

The crowd noise as the final whistle approached in the last few minutes of the Pools play off semi (and the Hereford one for that matter)

Tearing Swindon apart in the league cup, got stuffed in the 2nd leg mind

Gary Strodder prodding the ball into his own net.

Wainy notching that last goal at Feethams.

Robbie Blake's header v Scunthorpe in May 1996 which went an inch over the bar.

That incident always highlights for me the very fine line between success and failure - 3 inches different and we'd have been promoted.

Hereford away in the play-offs 1996, returning home in the early hours soon back to earth with a bump and a GCSE German exam at 8:30. I didn't care what a victory that was.

Scunthorpe away a few times, 7-1 defeat was a superb atmosphere and the last game of the season in 1996 (my first away game), drawing 3-3 which cost automatic promotion.

2006/07 where I went to every game home and away. Shrewsbury away in the December on a Tuesday night I did wonder why. About 40 fans, freezing cold, long journey and an awful performance resulting in a 4-1 defeat. But I was there when Phil Stamp scored for Darlo (and played for that matter!!)

Hartlepool away, Gary Bennet scoring a screamer and the play off win obviously.

Torquay away with Wainy scoring in injury time to secure 2-1 victory, what a weekend that was.

So many good times, and there will be more to come, we'll be back, keep the faith!!!

Wembley against Peterborough and having one too many in the Green Man before the game so the first half was literally a blur and singing songs across the bar towards the Posh fans who were just a foot away. Happy days!

There are so many I actually don't know where to start.

Mark Sheeran coming off the bench against against Lincoln/Luton (can't remember which one lol) when we were 2-1 down, and bagging two goals to help us bag a much needed win, and if my memory serves me correctly he narrowly missed out on a hat-trick because he had a third disallowed for being offside.

Tin Shed on tour, doing the conga around the decrepit West Stand. Also do people remember GR's ploy to gain favour with the fans by "jumping in" and stopping the TinShed being closed for the final game of the season?

The midweek Torquay game at Feethams which we lost 3-0 under TT, which then led on to the infamous fans forum and SR's comments of "It is not unknown for players at this time of year to throw games as way of favour!" :o

Pukka Pies - easily the tastiest I have ever had at a Darlo game, them Chicken Curry ones are my all time favourites - BRING BACK PUKKA!!

Watching the match ball get lodged in the very top of the East Stand, where it remained for the following month

Danny Mellanby bursting on to the scene, the day he crocked himself against Hull (I believe it was Hull anyway's lol) still stays with me to this day, I still wonder to this day what could of been?

The last game at Feethams, a brilliant day tinged with sadness, a lot of fond memories in the old girl, and true to the saying, it has just never been the same since leaving her :(

Breedon's voice breaking during one forgettable game at the Arena, shouting "Referee that was not offside!" with the last two words hitting a decimal even Christina Aguilerra would struggle to reach.

Hartlepool in the play-offs, an amazing day if there ever was one.

York away - my favourite away day of all time, this is one of the very few blessings of going down, the fact we may have this away day on our calendar once again

GR's rant at me and a few others during the time Scott had been barred from the arena  We showed support for Scott by chanting "There's only one Scott Thornberry!" GR's reply "Yes there is only one Scott Thornberry, and that's why the fucker's barred from Darlington FC!"

Zoe Birkett being guest of honour at Feethams, with all the lads in the Shed chanting "Get yer tit's out for the lads!!" :o

Looking back, its been an interesting few years supporting Darlo lol

Both play off finals - The Hereford away leg and Gregan's looping header
Leeds away.
Asprilla walking around the pitch at Feethams, playing Villa in the FA Cup after ManUre didnt play that year.
First game at the arena Kiddie's 2-0 win, Hartlepools 3-0 win, Carlisle's 5-0 win, Rochdale dicking us one Xmas time
Kennedys goal against Rochdale in the first leg and then the winner (from Miller I think) with that header from the edge of the box.
Too Many FALSE DAWNS!!

Ah, thought we were due a nostalgia thread today. Here's a few...

- First ever game, beating Hereford 3-1 at home (Cork; Burke; Trotter).
- Promotion against Rochdale.
- The 'McCarrison derby' where we trounced the Hangers.
- Thinking Bernie Slaven was going to be the signing of the century; being proved extremely wrong.
- The managerial expertise of Paul Futcher.
- The beginning of the following season, where all of our players except Gavin Worboys seemed to be Portuguese mavericks.
- Gaughan's late winner against Pools in the first playoff season - arguably the best team goal I ever saw at Feethams.
- Wembley depression.
- Roberts and Blake briefly looking like the best strike pairing we've ever had.
- Beating Macc 4-2 on Boxing Day while the East Stand was a pile of rubble. Master performance by Mario Dorner, IIRC.
- Coming back from behind to beat Swansea in a crazy game on a Tuesday night early season.
- Completely outplaying Wolves in the cup and contriving to lose 4-0.

And loads more, but I need to get back to work.

Watching Lidds cup his ear at the Vic in the playoff semi (I was in the Millhouse) :D

Seeing Gabbas / Jasper tear Northampton apart around Xmas time 1999 - we won 3-0.

Beating Hull 1-0 in the last game at Boothferry Park.

3-3 game at Reading where we deserved to go through but went out on pens.

2-0 win at Brentford during first full Penney season. Don't know why it stands out but was there with a group of mates (plenty of beers) and the atmosphere in the away end was great.

Just a few that spring to mind.

- Man City away in the late 1990's where we took them to extra time and they narrowly beat us.
- Wembley against Peterborough.
- Aston Villa away as the lucky losers.
- Last ever game at Feethams.
- First ever game at the Arena.
- Gary Strodder own goal at Feethams in the Play-Offs.

Can't think of anymore at the moment.

Not sure anyone as mentioned it yet, which surprises me (although it wasn't a league game), but beating Burnley 3-2 at the Riverside after the game had been postponed 67 times. Coming back from 2-0 down, Barnard, Atkinson and Dorner getting the goals right in front of the 'home' end.

A stone-cold classic. It was one of those odd games when something happens (in this case, Andy Payton getting sent off for them) and you suddenly know that your team are going to turn it around.

The highlights for me were....

*My first ever Darlo match at Feethams V Mansfield in the 1998/99 season which we won 5-1 having been 1-0 down at half time.

*Seeing some lads being guided out of the Tin Shed by two stewards closely followed by a third carrying a till V Rotherham also in the 98/99 season.

*George Reynolds first appearance at Feethams V Exeter City at the end of the 98/99 season (was third time lucky the game had been postponed twice previously after the Exeter fans had travelled if I remember rightly!) and his sly dig at the visiting fans who booed him while he was giving his speech to the fans, "there's only 2 there" (and raised two fingers to the West Stand as he said it.... Also the match itself which Darlo won 4-0.

*Mr Q falling over as he ran off the pitch as the players came out for the second half of the Worthington Cup first round, first leg game V Bolton at the start of the 1999/00 season.

*The Tin Shed doing the damn busters tune as geese flew over Feethams from the south park during our home against Halifax again in 99/00, a game which Darlo won 4-0 (and it was bloody freezing!).

*Darlo playing Aston Villa away in the FA Cup after being chosen as the "lucky losers" following Man Utd's withdrawl.

*The Feethams floodlights going out during the home game against Hull (the highlight of a dull 0-0 draw) on boxing day 1999.

8. Michael Oliver's last minute winner at home to Southend in 2000.

*An obvious one with Gary Strodders own goal in the play off semi final second leg to send Darlo to Wembley (also watching on the big screen at Feethams as Darlo won the first leg 2-0 at VP).

*Craig Liddle's goal line clearance v Peterborough at Wembley.

*A bit of an odd one... but Tommy Taylor telling George Reynolds to go away as he approached the dug out during a game, I believe it was against Torquay shortly before that famous fans forum in 01/02 season.

*A steward falling on the steps along side the West Stand at Feethams during the FA Cup third round game V Farnborough in 02/03 (yes I know we didn't need to be reminded of that, but it was still a funny moment!).

*Craig Liddle's equaliser against Hartlepool in the last derby at Feethams after Darlo had gone down to 10 men.

*Neil Wainwright's equaliser V Leyton Orient in the last match at Feethams.

*David McGurks late equaliser at Kidderminster in the 03/04 season, following a string of 1-0 defeats this proved to be the turning point of that season. (I was nearly thrown down the stand when it went in you'd think we'd won the league the way the darlo fans celebrated!)

*The whole Ted Forster incident on the old rivals site, he left a lot of people angry and left poor old Darlo_Pete embarassed but it was still a bizzare situation!

*The 'Reynolds Arena' signage being removed from the stadium in April 2004.

*A steward falling over whilst running after a couple of kids at the front of the West Stand at the Arena at the last home game of the 03/04 V Swansea!

*Chris Brass's hilarious own goal V Bury in the 05/06 season!

*Barry Conlon's hatrick V Macclesfield on the first day of the 06/07 season.

*Jason Kennedy's goal V Rochdale in the play offs in 07/08

*Dagenham's goalkeeper Tony Roberts responding to the Darlo fans in the West Stand following chants of "you fat b*****d" last season.

*The glory hunter being removed from the stadium on his first visit V Bradford City, after GH had welcomed him in his programme notes.

*The 5-1 home win over Luton at home last season, going 4-0 up at half time one of the best performances I've seen from any Darlo team.

DeVos's last minute header against Sheff Utd in the league cup to put us level on aggregate- only for us to go out in extra time.

Beating Bury 4-0 last home game of the first wembley season.

Beating Dale 2 nil to win old Div 4

The last 10 mins vs Burnley at the Riverside

Betting with my dad how many times Gary Bennett would say 'definitely so' in his post match interviews on Radio Cleveland.

Any post match Hodgy interview on Cleveland for that matter

The first game Reynolds turned up vs exeter and us destroying 4 nowt- Gabbiadini on fire that day.

Someone from the tin shed (possibly Geordie Quaker) ringing the club during a game at Feethams and getting them to announce the oppositions goalkeepers wife had gone into labour over the tannoy.

Some auld fella slipping but still hitting the bar at half time when they used to do that 3 shots to win a car competition

Sweet memories

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that was in fact the late Brian Henderson?

For content: -

- My first game, home to Bury on the last day of the 93/94 season - 1-0 win, Bernie Slaven had a blinder, but played crappily ever after if the memory serves.

- Huddersfield away, 2004 - being able to walk 5 minutes to a Darlo game, Maddison's freak goal & some lad being chased in & out of the seats by some stewards Benny Hill style for about 20 minutes.

- Forest away in the League Cup - Stuart Elliott from (a few feet past) the halfway line.

- Hangers in the playoffs - Spending the entire day drinking Blue Nun , losing my ticket for the Shed, having to watch from the trees behind the Polam End, nearly falling out when Strodder's effort went in.

- Taking bets on how long the match would go before Gary Twynham (later, Gary Pearson) would attempt to kill someone.

- Every time we managed to make it back to the train station in 1 piece after an away win at the San Giro.

- Ingham in goal for Carlisle being the funniest opposition keeper to ever stand in front of the Shed (Neville Southall for Torquay falling on his arse after taking a goal kick is a close second).

- Tin Shed making Lee Ellison cry against Southport in the FA Cup.

- PieBoy & Elvis :D

- Trying to keep a straight face having my photo taken with Reynolds at the front of the Shed in T-shirt saying Same s***, Different Day.

- Andy Collett giving the best goalkeeping performance I've ever seen against the Chimps, despite a broken thumb.

- Hull away in 2002 - Ingham's heroics in goal and Simon bloody Betts, of all people, socring the last ever goal at Boothferry Park.

Subhuman84- Yes of course it was ex darlo player Brian Henderson I'd forgot that!

I also think Tony Roberts gives Ingham close run for funniest away keeper!

That will of been a lad called Andrew Connell  a lad who in his own right is a Darlo legend - I've never seen anyone take so much grief and just take it on the chin.

There's been a fair few over the years - the Southport (or was it Sudbury?) keeper in the incredibly effeminate pink get-up, Andy Dibble, Alan Fettis, the Shrewsbury keeper who spent the entire half burping & scratching his arse. Loads more, but I'll let someone else add them to the list.

My personal favourite was Steve Wilson - played against us for Hull & Macclesfield if I remember right - famous for constantly falling over on account of his gangly, telescopic legs, and looking just like Timmy from South Park. Remember pissing myself every time he went anywhere near the ball. Still better than Samways, Finch or Burridge though
