Martyn Waghorn and Joe Colback

Post by Darlo_Chris » Tue Aug 04, 2009 2:17 pm

Sky sports seem to think that Sunderland have loaned these two players out on 'long term loans'. Hopefully, they have joined us.

Just beat me to it.

Seems very odd that sky say they have been loaned out - but dont say who too.
never heard of that before.....

Skysports.com understands that Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has loaned out two of the club's brightest prospects, Martyn Waghorn and Joe Colback, on long-term loans.

disapointing news although not unsurprising, CT had said there were championship sides in for waghorn...

Also does anyone know what position this Seb Hines fella plays?

lets face it, most of these lads will benefit more by playing championship football than league 2, however boro must look at how we brought wheater and bates on and at least give us someone, surely....trouble is, out of all of the names mentioned i dont think there are any realistic ones

4 or 5 loans from NE teams is impossible, CT needs to start setting his sights a little lower, maybe hartlepool or leeds have a couple of lads who might fill a gap? leeds have always been very good to us in the past.

Do we really want any Hartlepool rejects? I knew things were tight, but that just smacks of desperation!

Seb Hines is a right back/centre half, can also play as a holding midfielder. Joe Bennett is a left back

needs must and all that, from what i gather the only hope of further additions are loans where the parent clubs pay most if not all of their wages.

Well the Scunny scout knew very little then. He told me that they were chasing these two for 6 months or so and were close to signing them both.

CT said last night that he will name his team for Saturday on Wednesday, i cant see anyone coming in before then, so assuming everyone is fit we'll line up

Knight
Bower
Arnison
Foster
Miller
G.Smith
Lumsdon
Convery
J.Smith
Thorpe
Windass

Subs: Liversedge, Plummer, Bennett, Riley, Groves, (or any loanee brought in before sat)

The team really does pick itself.....

It does pick itself and it is a bit worrying how thin on the ground we look this close to the season. I hope some loanees are announced tomorrow.

Todd has been ambitious in his loan targets - no harm in that as long as he doesn't come away empty handed.

As for the title of the thread isn't it Jack Colback . . not to be confused with Joe Colbeck.

Well he'll have to sign Michael Bridges now!

We can only sign two more anyway which takes us to the squad max of 20. it'll be a while before the league lift that shackle, we had the same problem last administration.

Todd said he wanted 4 or 5 loan players, he must know about when this will be lifted... I can see it being 2-3 after we leave administration.

Perhaps Convery aside (I'm still not convinced...), that isn't a bad starting X1 if it can (a) gel and (b) stay fit.

As others say, the worry is depth - Windass won't play every week, as we know, Thorpe isn't exactly a spring chicken and there are people in that side used to lengthy injury lay-offs.

Much better seeing Bower and Arnison's names in there over Starosta and James, I must say.

Todd said last night anyone brought in before Saturday would be to strengthen the bench rather than the first 11.

We desperately need a proper right-winger and another option upfront though. :?

The team desperately needs pace.

We all know Todd wants a winger and another forward, they need to be nippy.

We need a pacey forward more than we need a pacey winger. A pacey winger is fuck all use without a pacey forward to get in the middle for him.
