Covid postponments

Post by Alfie » Fri Aug 20, 2021 1:15 pm

Don't know if there any general FA guidelines about when a club can postpone a match when players test positive, but the Northern Premier League seem to be taken a very strict approach. This is taken from an article in the Non League paper by the NPL chairman

'This season, for a league match to be postponed due to Covid-19, first clubs must have fewer than 13 players (including goalkeepers) eligible to play. If an outbreak occurs, clubs must provide evidence of players testing positive to the League no later than six hours before kick-off. Any clubs with 13 or more players registered, regardless of age/ability, will be required to fulfil a fixture.'

Fixtures supposed to be played within 6 weeks of original date, I think. September could be very busy

Another one bites the dust. Covid has taken hold in the Telford squad and their game at Boston tomorrow is off. "Telford have announced that several members of the first team have tested positive for COVID-19 and that many others have also started to feel unwell."

Bizarre arrangements re Covid postponements in East Cornwall League.

Looe Town had to call a game off owing to Covid. The league awarded the 3 points to their opponents.

However, in same league St Stephens call a game off because they were unable to raise a team (seemingly not covid related) and points not awarded and games to be rearranged.

Sometimes the authorities act strangely
