No idea - should have been added on if that was the case. Hard to really comment blind.
Thanks. Thought he was incompetent. Just our luck to get him. Did you see the penalty turned down for handball?
Totally agree Adam, this clown was one of the worst referees we have had at BM, why he failed to add on 2 extra minutes at the end only he knows.God help the EFL when he starts refereeing their games.

Can't beat getting off on a technicality.
What it actually boils down to is that the ref made a complete pig's ear of it.

Clearly - well sort of sounds like it was nothing to do with the referee either as it seems to have been something his assistant thought he saw.

Hatfield still escaped a ban on a technicality. He was red carded for violent conduct rather than being yellowed for aggressive attitude.

The outcome would have been a dismissal on the day regardless but by virtue of the error Hatfield escapes a ban and gets his yellow cards wiped for the new season.

Straight red very quickly and very easily shown to be completely wrong decision = pig's ear officiating.

Time isn't a healer. It's either believed to be red or it isn't. Advice is for violent conduct show early to prevent retaliation.

I have no idea really whether this was likely or not as there is no footage published.

How did you find out that it was very easily shown to be completely wrong, just out of interest. I've yet to find any publicly available information which confirms.
  • How many camera angles were submitted as evidence
  • How long did the panel spend reviewing the footage / replaying it
  • Was the outcome 3-0 incorrect or was it 2-1 incorrect
Unless of course by very easily you are referring to the actual appeals process in that all we have to do is tick a few boxes on the system and submit some video in as an attachment. It's just a strange place to talk about the usability of the FA appeals system - so apologies if that is what you meant. In which case I agree it is very easy to do.

There is no real evidence the process wasn't sound. The decision / judgement on behalf of the assistant has ultimately been judged to be incorrect - that is really it.

I mean Armstrong said he'd have to watch the footage to see whether it was right or wrong so guess that means from pitch level it was hard to tell.

Any chance we can put this thread to bed? It is so depressing, I just want to put it away together with the 2020/21 season.
At least we will still have a club and the basis of a decent squad for 2021/22 thanks to DJ & the board, AA and all the fans who stuck with the club despite of everything. Everyone, take a break, get vaccinated, shuffle the squad with some ins/outs and be ready for the next season.

All yellows are wiped out at the end of each season so that last makes no sense.

"His yellow cards are wiped" doesn't make sense because yellow cards are wiped.

No, the bit that made no sense was that all yellow cards are wiped at the end of the season. The fact he had a red rescinded made no difference to his yellows.

Just watched the goals :( but I'll only do it once.

For their opener a number of our players look like they've eaten too much Walls Viennetta and can't get up to speed proper.

It's one of the weirdest goals I've seen at our level.

Their first goal was embarrassing (just watched it back).

I don’t mind the original mistake, but there is little attempt by Sousa to regain possession, Hedley doesn’t block off the runner, Hunt doesn’t go with the runner and then the goalscorer starts off behind Liddle and ends up 5 yards in front.

You get what you deserve when you are as passive as that.

I wouldn't describe Hornchurch as a 'tidy side'. I thought the defending by both teams was calamitous at times.

Hornchurch beat Notts Co on penalties today after a 3-3 draw in 90 minutes and will play Hereford in the final. Terrific achievement for a team from their level to make it to the final.

Congratulations to Hornchurch who came from behind to beat Hereford 3-1 and win the FA Trophy. Fantastic achievement for a team from their level to win this competition.
A strange result in a very strange season.

Really pleased to see they won the FA trophy, at least we went out to the eventual cup winners.

They were so beatable but fair play to them. Remember they had a big lad up top who when you looked at him you immediately assumed he wasn’t good enough, and 1 or 2 others who supported him very well
