Kettering Away Saturday 23rd January

Post by Old Git » Fri Jan 22, 2021 10:16 am

Will the game take place?
As well as all the doubts concerning the pandemic it seems possible that the pitch may not be playable anyway. Kettering Chairman has signed the letter to the League asking for matches to be halted so wondering if there will be much of an attempt to get the game on.

I was thinking the same. There’s a good possibility that we’ve played our last game for quite sometime, and there may be some players we never actually see at all.

So long as they tell us early enough to prevent a waste of time and putting the lads at risk. Would rather the game did not take place with a legitimate reason that no-one could question.

A gentleman's agreement re the state of the pitch wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Every club has a local ref who they turn to if they need their pitch to be unplayable. Kettering did have to switch their trophy game to Leamington during the week due to their pitch being unsuitable.

I don't think the game being off would necessarily help financially though as we would still be paying wages until we can furlough. Depends if our concern is genuinley health v financial.
