Yep, sky looking full & Spennymoor is a lot higher than Darlo so would expect more snow there & at least a pitch inspection. More likely to have game called off.

Can't see the game going ahead tomorrow. Snow forecast to fall from 7pm tonight through to 6am tomorrow & the top temperature in Spennymoor tomorrow is 1 degrees.
Think I’d rather take notice of the met Office than you.No snow or rain forecast at all until 3 pm tomorrow when there’s a 50% chance of rain .Temperature above freezing all the way.
Someone owes Pete an apology ;)

It's Foggitt every time! But don't worry as it's a Football League standard pitch with the best covers money can buy and postponements are a thing of the past.

I think Pete has a fir cone on the back step. They must be confident about the game going ahead as there's no mention of it on their Twitter feed. I'm not buying the match til later though!

Well I did warn you, it's snowing pretty heavy out in the sticks. The forecast looks pretty bad for Spennymoor.

Premier league standard without under soil heating, problem with covers, a lot of snow will make it hard removing, the pitch is one of best in europe, but snow and frost are a problem without the under soil heating.

But you only have 200 fans less than Darlo according to you! Why aren't your hoards out there clearing the pitch like we do?

So why has it been called off due to "unforecasted" snow? Cant your trained snow removers clear it again? lol

No free mid weeks (Tuesday's) for us until the 23rd of February. Not sure how that will compute with the national leagues requirement for games to be rearranged within 42 days of the original fixture.

One of the best pitches in Europe..
World class pitch covers.
Fully trained snow removers.
What more could any football team ask for.

Perhaps a little less bragging by a certain supporter and a little more co-ordination to get the equipment in place and removed ( by the fully trained snow removers) at the right time.

I like their comment of 'unforecast snowfall', it had been forecasted for much of yesterday and overnight! The fact that the met office has already gone with colder conditions to continue for much of Xmas to mid-January at least, should have given plenty of warning after all we are in the middle of winter! Amateurs!

That's how winning is done!"

Really disappointed, was looking forward to today's games, and given the money they have spent on the pitch, and proper pitch covers I thought it was a definite to be on given the number of supporters quoted by Polarbear (I don't know as don't check to be honest so take his word for it), and that snow was not forecast for the full day. Plus they have full time grounds men.

There’s a weird mentality at Spennymoor where they think nothing is ever their fault. Why not just say the weather has left the pitch unplayable? Why the need for “unforecast” in there? The only reason is to say: “It’s not our fault”.

It was the same with FenceGate, and various other issues over the years. They believe they can do no wrong.

May I respectfully suggest that Spennymoor employ Darlo Pete as a weather forecast consultant. You can have a world class pitch with world class covers and the most dedicated volunteers in the world but if you don’t know what you are doing it is a waste of time. Good job we are local and did not have to set off hours ago on a wasted journey.

Only solution to the fixture backlog was first mooted by Lennon/McCartney - "8 days a week"

The major problem with these kind of multi-thousand-pound, cutting-edge pitch covers is that their effectiveness is somewhat reduced if they are not deployed on the pitch and then you get snow in the middle of an extreme cold snap in mid-winter.

What a load of bollocks I forecast the snow, a completely amateur run club. If the game had been in Darlo, we'd have had a small army of fans to clear the pitch this morning. They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, haha.

Yes, probably not deployed due to staff being in class receiving training in snow removal. At least the nice new covers won't get dirty & covered by snow.

Last season we had the Fencegate Farce. This season we have the Snowgate Shambles. Wonder what they will come up with next season ?
