Match off with Gateshead as one of our players has Covid - no game for 2 weeks

We knew it would happen at some point. Thank god it happened after the FA Cup run.

Agreed at least we able to play the game and get a decent amount of money from it. Hope the player involved suffers no lasting effects but it is worrying that all the players were in such close contact over the weekend on the team coach and in the hotel.

Telford have gone into isolation as well today.

I think there is minimal risk to our players really. In reality we are one of the only clubs not to have gone into isolation yet for a positive test and rarely has it actually spread amongst players.

The season is at serious threat at the moment for non-elite football. Some Step 5 leagues have postponed until the New Year with some teams having only played 4 or 5 games. The FA have definitively say they cannot continue past the end of May.

That's 27 weeks to play 30+ games and the assumption is we will be back in lockdown in January and tiers will remain in place until April. Tier 3 football (no fans) cannot continue below elite football.

I don't expect anyone to be relegated from our division come the end of the season.

On the positive side (no pun intended), perhaps the game can be rearranged for a later date when fans (some) may be allowed back in?

Do we really expect anything else from the FA, an organisation that is so out of touch reality even in normal times?
Enforcing ridiculous deadlines to get games games in normal seasons is bad enough but when you have lost 2 months already only the dumbest of people would expect teams to be able to complete a full season by that deadline. They wont allow any football to be played in June, unless its England of course!

So confirmed tonight - I am sure this was already confirmed Ollie Bayliss has been making out like it hasn't been.

No spectators allowed in tier 3 above grassroots. All the leagues that have teams in tier 3 have effectively said that they leagues are postponed until spectators can return.

I can see them changing the tiers before the free for all over Christmas. They plan is to bring down infection as far as possible to try and limit the increase during that period. And will probably reinstate the same tiers back again until the Christmas increase dies down.

I think realistically it could be mid-Jan before we see any tier 3s becoming tier 2s.

Club must isolate until Mon Dec 14th. So Hereford, Leamington and Farsley postponed. No training sessions either.

Means our first game back will be the FA Trophy on the 15th/16th I’m guessing.

We might end up with an almighty fixture backlog.... I guess it's good from a 'getting fans in' perspective as it'll probably mean more games with at least someone in the ground. It also gives us time to rebuild from that horror show.

Probably also means we will be someone else’s Guiseley the first game back.
We will be totally ring rusty against our first league opponents back since our squad can’t train.
Suppose other teams have had to go through it.
The other thing to note from this, by the time we restart we could be 8 games behind some teams. 😳

Not sure it will matter.

Rumours that Northern Prem will be paused whilst clubs are in tier 3.

I can see PPG being used at the end of this season, with a similar number of games being played to last season. On another note, is it wrong of me to admit I'm quite enjoying the break from watching the torture of us at home tonight? I'm writing this at 9.22, so in an alternative universe we are 1-0 down and I'm watching us pass the ball backwards and sideways against 2 banks of 4.

Hello Vic, you've said it for me too especially after Sunday. Perhaps they're relieved as well.

Hayes & Yeading at home in the 2010/11 season panned out a lot like the above ^ with what little possession we had anyway!

God, i remember that game. Hayes were so bloody rigid in their formation they looked like a table football team.
