Looks set to sign for us ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Alfreton. Huge boost with Charman injured at the minute and with the FA Cup in mind.

Great news if true.I would think that would mean bye bye to the lad we took from Workington though.

As a permanent signing??

I think he’s, obviously, a great signing if this is true... but how are we intending to play him, Campbell, Maguire, Charman... ok even if AA has now, against initial instincts decided that Campbell isn’t a forward... I’m not sure how we keep them all happy and give them all game time!

Would be as a loan, surely.

How bad is Charman's injury, how long he is going to be out for?

It will be a loan signing, would have thought it would be until January.

Hope it is true because I am sure we could help to kick start his career. Obviously has no future at Boro because even though they have been short of strikers he has not figured in Warnock’s plans. Would have expected he may have gone on loan to a club higher up the pyramid but then we managed to sign Charman and the same applies to him.

Can’t be that bad as according to official website he will have a fitness test for Alfreton game on his ankle injury.

It's a loan I think ,we have a very congested fixture list Tuesday sat for a while now so alun covering all bases. That is a good decision all players will have a chance to play as so many games in short time space.

Would be great to have him back, perhaps AA is reacting to the possible use of 5 subs ruling ?

Interesting signing - very good player, and Campbell, Maguire, Charman and O'Neill is quite the collection of forwards. I've wondered how Armstrong was going to keep the first 3 happy when they're all fit, and he's complicated that now by adding in O'Neill!

Not sure who but alun alluded to someone moving to make room for Tyrone to enter ,
Maybe non contact player/s . I might have read to much into what he was saying.

I presume it’ll either be Hudson or Amantchi who make way if someone is to leave.

Here’s a theory......

It’s pretty much accepted by everyone that Charman should be playing a number of leagues higher that us.
Has he been watched? Is there a bid on the table? Could his departure be imminent?

Hence AA brings in very able cover in O’Neill......

I hope you are right but interesting he didn't mention Cambell when he talked about the other forwards....

I’ve got a feeling he sees Campbell as more of a wide player now rather than a forward but I might be wrong.

Campbell isn't leaving in any way, he just meant playing 4-3-3 you can only play one of Maguire, Charman or O'Neill. Campbell on the other hand can play in 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 etc. you could argue some of the others possibly could be the three he mentioned all largely play as the spearhead of a three or in a two up front.

Could be, but I think alun is being cautious as we have a fixture piling up so need extra players to cover injuries and players who for work commitments can't make given games ,remember these lads have day jobs which pay their bills, the manager thinking ahead.

What a crazy amount of quality up front though with Maguire, Campbell, Charman and O'Neill. Looks like Amantchi will have to make way, the lad needs to play and he isn't really going to get it here currently.

I dunno - I'd be suprised if anyone would pay money for Charman on the back of a handful of goals, as good as he was against Swindon in particular. I'm fully expecting him to move up at some point in the not too distant future, but would be surprised if it's just yet

I guess Charman has been thrown into the deep end of men's football, and has been struggling with injuries. Maguire also has a recent history of injury issues. I presume the opportunity to add a quality CF was presented to Armstrong and he can use this to avoid overplaying Charman and Maguire in this hectic period.

You would think that it would be the end of Amantchi, but I don't think Campbell is an out and out striker - he is a wide player - so bringing in O'Neil would be 3 strikers, and with the amount of games we have we need bodies.
I am looking forward to seeing more of Hudson, I'm sure he will get his chance at some point.

Bit off topic, MF and forwards sorted, anyone know or educated guess when Hunt might be back?

Concussion protocol is being followed, so that means no training or games for 2 weeks from the date the injury occurred. Which means he can start training again from this Tuesday (the 24th). But after that I would imagine it will all be down to player and physio gut feel. Fingers crossed he might make it in time for the Bristol Rovers game. He was a huge part of getting us into the second round, deserves the chance to play.

whilst the 4-3-3 (4-5-1) formation is the main one at the moment, we did play very well in a 4-4-2 against curzon with Charman and Campbell up front, so it is an option. You've got your two bigger strikers in Charman and O'Neill and your two smaller ones in Maguire and Campbell. I don't think I'd be as comfortable with Campbell playing left of a 4-4-2.

Great headaches to have
