FA Cup TV Details

Post by super_les_mcjannet » Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:36 pm

So obviously no fixtures announced but below is what is expected following the first round and current FA announcement.

8 games to be broadcast live on BBC/BT Sport & Digital Channels - Likely to get £32.5k each team.
8 games to be broadcast live on BBC Digital Channels only - Likely to get £12.5k each team.
4 games to be streamed by host club and receive no TV money.

We obviosuly want to be in the first option.

Likely to be announced on Wednesday 11th November but to be confirmed.

I’d imagine the build up for all games will be from 1pm, the kick off from 1.30pm.

Will there be a bbc sport commentator or the local radio one from Bristol?

Depends how much of a shock the BBC think it’ll be.

If it’s high up the list, they’ll send one of their own. If not, they may use Local Radio comms.

If it’s one of their own, in the last round they didn’t have summarisers.

I feel like having one of the bbc sport ones would add a layer of excitement, which i accept is quite childish of me really.

I'm still annoyed brackley town have been chosen ahead of us as tomorrow's live match even though I have been criticized by certain people. They get rewarded for knocking a team out at the same level whilst playing a league two club and we have to play second fiddle to them having knocked out a club three divisions above ourselves on their home patch and have the opportunity to do it to another league one club.

It will be covered by BBC Radio Bristol I assume. Maybe Five Live will link with them for updates I think gone are the days when BBC would have both a National reporter and a local reporter at the same game?

It's on the BBC iPlayer apparently, ie the red button.

Not on the Red Button. But on iPlayer and the website:

I'm sure the female presenter who was summarising the EFL results last Saturday on final score said She will be at the match in Bristol next Sunday.

Apparently of the 8 games being covered by the BBC at 13-30 on Sunday only 2 games will have multiple cameras & we're one of them, so it should be really good coverage by the BBC, perhaps they are expecting a shock.

It may be something that everyone knows but just in case, BBC red button is channel 601 on freeview. Starts at 1.20pm.

Think we have a chance to pull this one off and into the next round.

From the BBC perspective, there is a bigger chance of a shock at Tranmere. They are a league lower than Bristol Rovers, and therefore, in theory, more of a chance of a non-league side creating a shock. Simple editorial decision.

That red button option clearly says available shortly after the broadcast so won't be live via the Red button

Tbf my TV takes me to BBC iPlayer when I press the red button anyway.

The stuff on there is always slightly delayed as well a good 30 seconds so you may want to switch off any goal alerts etc.

Remember our game against Walsall I was on a delayed stream and I knew they had scored at a point we had just won a corner.

I have looked ahead on channel 601, programme starts at 1.20 for Darlo game. Not sure if it is delayed or how long. Game on there tomorrow so may watch that and see how much later it is after start?

Was hoping it was live on that channel, I know iPlayer is always a short delay time but not sure about the channel

Also Channel 981 on Sky (unhelpfully described as "BBC RB1"), it's on the Schedule

Thanks for pointing out the Sky channel number but why is it "unhelpfully described"?

That's a great help polam, I can now tape the programme as may be working on the afternoon. All I have to do is avoid hearing updates, reminds me of that famous episode of 'Whatever happened to the likely lads'!!!!

You might make all that effort to avoid the score and end up watching ice skating from Vienna!

Yep, set that to record so if worthwhile can watch it back also.
