Pubs Streaming Darlo games

Post by Lawman3 » Mon Oct 12, 2020 1:34 pm

There's nothing to stop pubs streaming the games, and they are struggling to make money in these troubled times, but it is to the detriment of our club.

Anyone know which pubs are doing this? As DJ suggests, it would be good if some collection was made for the club if they intend to continue doing this.

Interesting comments by DJ. I wonder though whether genuine fans (in the current circumstances) would rather go to the pub and spend their £7.99 (and more) and contibute to the pub, rather than watch at home? In other words those who might go to the pub were never likely to purchase a streaming ticket in the first place, so are the Club really missing out on much lost revenue? Having a collection is still a good idea I guess.

In addition Pubs showing Sky and BT Sports have to pay more don't they than an individual subscriber? If true maybe Quaker TV could look at doing the same in the future.

In my opinion, an unnecessarily devisive headline by the Echo: "Darlington FC hit out at pubs showing on line coverage of matches". DJ made a perfectly reasonable point in a considered manner.

Makes buying tomrrow's Echo worth it if the result is in there.
Mind, watching Darlo in a packed pub (as it surely will be) will see us promoted up a tier 😅

Not likely to be such an issue now people are not allowed to mix in pubs. Apart from hardcore drinkers can’t see many people bothering to go to the pub if they can’t socialise with friends. Yet another major blow to the hospitality industry.

The thing that has bugged me, for a while.

Whilst the rules said "rule of 6" it still said you had to remain socially distanced from any other members of your group...the same distance you have to keep from other 'groups' anyway.

All the rule of 6 did in simplifying stuff was make people think they could get close to 5 other households but that was never the case.

Effectively the rule is and always has been "stay socially distant from all other households"

Arguably rule of 6 actually made things worse.

Basically I don't actually think anything has actually changed it has all just been repackaged.
