Fylde Tuesday night

Post by quakerste » Sun Oct 04, 2020 12:25 pm

We roll on to Tuesday night AFC Fylde away, has anyone heard if they are going to be streaming the game?

Looking forward to the match but would rather be there than having to watch it from home. Mrs not going to be to happy with me hogging the tv watching two games a week.

The real question is are DFR going to be there? I won't be paying into another clubs coffers while my own club's finances are in jeopardy.

This is wise - and maybe a thought for some - sacrifice the visual for a donation to the club and make do with audio...

While Fylde are a bit cnuty, I don't really have an issue with throwing clubs a few quid for a functional live stream this year. I'd like us to have some opponents to play when things return to normal.

Perhaps I'll judge things on a case by case basis and how much they are charging. Hopefully, we can benefit from increased numbers from away fans tuning in, who perhaps would never have actually traveled to the live game.

Nothing to do with Fylde and their attitude to stuff tbh and everything to do with the fact that we know that streaming is £7.99 per household per game. Whereas the average revenue per household per game would probably be in the region of £12 - £16. Appreciate we have some government funding now but that doesn't cover everything we lose from not playing in front of spectators.

Agreed. The way I see it, the streaming covers any shortfall that the grant doesn't cover.

Just as a ball park figure, if we get 400 paying streamers (season ticket holders don't pay obviously) 500 programmes and plenty of 20/20 tickets sold we could get just under 5k per league game to top up what we have.

Bearing in mind that that throughout the years Darlo’s finances have nearly always been in “jeopardy “ - have you never been to an away game?

They are leaving late to make an announcement.

Used to go to quite a few away games, but decided several years ago that my money was better spent at home games and supporting local businesses in and around Darlo. Haven't been to an away game since the last admin. Don;t know when I'll be able to attend again, but in the meantime I'll contribute what I can to MY team remotely.

Obviously I’d far rather give the money to our club, but it’s not gonna be an option is it? It’s either gonna be pay the hosts or not watch.

I appreciate DFR need numbers to listen also for advertising revenue et al, but you could always stick it on as well.

I’m just saying, I don’t have any issue with paying to watch other sides stream our away games. Hopefully some of their fans will tune in and pay when we are streaming the reverse fixture.

Not really the point I was making. Absolute DFR listening numbers is kind of neither here nor there.

People are free to do whatever they want. You are right the alternative is not to watch that is why I termed it a "sacrifice".

ie. could you sacrifice the visual for audio and donate the difference to the club.

This might be more doable for some people than what BTB was, and given they may be paying less to watch darlo at home do they have capacity to donate that rather than giving it to other clubs. Again just an idea, not a "you must do this or you are the worst person imaginable".

Hopefully some visiting fans will, but we've already seen other clubs are trying to co-ordinate screenings of games at their clubs. The 20 or so fans that we used to get we will get one admission rather than 20.

Taking actions based on a feeling that some other might return the favour. I'd rather control what I can control and let others do them.

I emailed them to ask them to correct our name and to be fair their last two articles have us as Darlington FC. This from their site:
Streaming:
The club is working hard on bringing the best possible service to supporters, to allow the matches at Mill Farm to be streamed. Unfortunately, Coasters TV, our new live-streaming platform will not be ready for tonight’s game against Darlington FC and we are working hard to have it available for all fans to watch our next home game against Kettering Town FC on 17th October.
Just shows the effort put in by Quaker TV!

Disappointing news & a loss of a bit of revenue for Fylde, as I'm sure a lot of Darlo fans would have signed up for the streaming service.

Last time we went they wouldn't let us put up highlights for whatever reason. Dunno if they've changed attitude now

Seems extremely petty not allowing this, cannot think of any logical reason not to.

They were paranoid about other clubs being able to “study”them via highlights.Pathetic.

Yeah I’ll be doing highlights.
Pointless them saying no now. Home clubs have to submit the footage of the match which is made available to all clubs anyway, so it’s a waste of time saying no.
