Droylsden
Re: Droylsden
It is very sad. I guess if they survive as a club, they would now have to enter pyramid at step 6 in say 2021/22 season at earliest

Re: Droylsden
And FC Romania have folded apparently.
Re: Droylsden
Far from being the first. I named 4 on the Coronavirus post in off topic yesterday, but going down the steps I have heard of about 15 that have either gone completely or asked to be placed lower in the structure in the hope they can survive.
Re: Droylsden
God that horrible, nasty FA Cup night there still sticks in the mind.
Re: Droylsden
I seem to remember them making some pretty disparaging comments about us that night!

Re: Droylsden
Horrible news. Dave Pace could be hard work but the moment you got off the pitch he was one of the most genuine people you could come across the same for his brother who was heavily involved.
Re: Droylsden
Wasn't he an associate of the infamous Stephen Vaughan, later of Chester notoriety.

Re: Droylsden
Must hurt when only a few miles away, their Premiership neighbours have millions to spend, a tiny % of which would save a grass roots club.
Re: Droylsden
Not so clear on them.
Announcements they have died, been revived and no one knows. It seems the founder/ manager has left, but a new committee are trying to ensure club survives
Re: Droylsden
Droylsden were kicked of the FA Cup the year they beat us, 2008. They subsequently beat Chesterfield but Pace fielded a player who was banned, Sean Newton, now at York. He scored two goals but shouldn't have been on the field and they were chucked out.

Club Statement
Droylsden FC have as of today resigned from the Northern Premier League and will also take no part in Cup Competitions this season
In a letter sent to the Northern Premier League Chairman Dave Pace described the decision as the most difficult he has ever had to make.
However the disruption caused by the Covid-19 crisis has left him with no alternative.
The closing of the social club and its function rooms since the start of the pandemic, the main income source with no indication of any restart on viable trading terms along with a loss of income from the club’s main sponsor has left the club with no visible alternative income stream during the crisis.
“The club may hopefully survive this crisis and continue into the future in less challenging circumstances than we find ourselves in during the present”
The club will be making no further statement at the present time

I believe what is happening proves we also need paying fans back into stadiums as soon as possible. Regardless of this pandemic we are going to have to learn to fight back if this means wearing face coverings for the foreseeable future so be it. But if we continue the way we are now they might not be enough clubs to play against when we finally get back underway.

Re: Droylsden
So does the time we played them in the EvoStik North, unfortunate scenes to say the least.
It was certainly a bizarre situation which eventually led to their expulsion!

Re: Droylsden
That is a classic tale. I particularly liked the bit about 2-0 down, three-quarters of the match gone and the floodlights mysteriously failed at the Butcher's Armsquaker4life wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 3:04 pmSo does the time we played them in the EvoStik North, unfortunate scenes to say the least.
