Just been announced that the government are planning a return of fans in stadiums from October, I'd imagine the start if our season will be the same if this is the cass

I am hoping the season will start earlier - hopefully the matches will be live streamed for a reasonable price.

I m hoping that non league can start earlier than that with restrictions in place. We have plenty of space, it Is not as if we are in an enclosed stadium.

We would we want to start earlier, we'd have no income from paying spectators?

Or at least we'd have severly reduced income, as would all clubs, makes no sense to start until you can make it pay.

A potential October opening is with social distancing, so I'm not sure how we can make it pay even then

Perhaps the live streaming of the play-offs will give us some idea of testing the market and costs?

Really? I didn't realise that. In that case I can't see non-league resuming.

Well to be fair, the BBC are quoting 'Social distancing must be observed in seating arrangements', but I can't see standing being exempt from social distancing!

Boris said he hoped stadiums would be open by October, but no mention of how that would work.

You are right. I wonder what our capacity would be under those rules. The only way clubs could function would be with a large subsidy.

Of the October return is dependant on things going well between now & then. We are being told that a second wave of Coronavirus is likely, no doubt that would put a death nail in an autumn resumption of football.

social distancing in all areas and demarcation of standing areas. Be a vastly reduced capacity having a quick glance through this

Yes the leagues are going to have a decision to make to ensure competitive balance. Gateshead, as an extreme example, will likely be able to have something resembling their normal crowd in. We will potentially be severly restricted in the numbers we are allowed in.

If it is the seating which needs social distancing, then for an average gate of 1500 we would need a stadium that could seat 15000. Now can anyone think of somewhere that big yet still in the town? Purely rhetorical & no need to answer that one - George Reynolds was years ahead in his thinking.
I'd rather pay to watch the live stream, particularly if Kevin & the DarloFans Radio could do it

How many seated season tickets have we already sold? Few enough for them all to fit in the reduced capacity? If not, who misses out? Pretty sure there will be 1001 other questions as well.

The RFU have said something along the lines of Twickenham could have around 9,000 in with the 2 metre rule and around 36,000 with a 1 metre rule. That, even with 1 metre, is still less than half capacity.

Those rules were written on a one size fits all scenario which is simply not the case. Premier league and on league are worlds apart and need to be treated as such. If the police have no powers to enforce social distancing then volunteer stewards have no chance and you can put up all the signs and markers that you like it will make no difference, people will stand where they want to. Why not go for social distancing of 1m with mitigation and make face coverings a condition of entry.

Agreed face covering a must at the start with latex gloves maybe, at least it will keep the VIRUS at bay hopefully. People being cautious wouldn't go amiss also,
Being sensible with how you go about getting there and distance as best you can. We're all in this together, all have a part to play in getting the game back to where it was.

Based on those figures it’s approx 10% capacity with 2m and just under 50% with 1m which is a heck of a difference. For us that would be 300 with 2m or 1500 with 1m. While 300 would be a financial disaster, 1500 should be ok.

But a lot of our capacity is based on standing 4 deep around the perimeter. I suspect it would reduce our capacity by more than 50%.

I think one of the experimental sport attendance event is going to be glorious Goodwood 5000 people allowed into the course instead of the usual 50'000 I also believe a limited attendance is going to be allowed into the crucible theatre for the world snooker championship s at the end of this month if they go well the sky's the limit.

My thoughts are that we will be up and running by mid September with 30-40 % capacity in place for National league. Northern league playing by the beginning of September.

Also may have to consider collecting data on individuals attending for "Test & trace" purposes. Season ticket holders are no problem, but a slick method to collect casual and away fans who turn up is needed to sort out queuing issues. Hopefully the details of anyone banned are in the system but I can see the scallys giving false details & hiding behind their facemasks.

I'm expecting that the guidance will change, assuming infection rates continue to drop. It has already come up that risk is lower if you are wearing a face covering and side by side (not face to face). The guidance at the moment is 1m+ simply based on the face covering.

It wouldn't surprise me if 1metre is removed assuming that spectators are not face to face with each other come October. Which in a spectator sport setting isn't really a problem.

The only thing which may be sensible is not to front load any games which would usually be segregated. That is down to the league / fixture scheduler to be sensible.

I'd like to know exactly what is meant by "elite sport" I would assume this means Premier League/Championship football Premier League Rugby, top flight Cricket, golf etc. This could have serious implications lower down the pyramid and any suggestion of resuming behind closed doors is absolutely nonsensical it would be financial suicide for many clubs.

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out and what the National League's response is to it.

It won’t be behind close doors. I think that’s been made clear recently.

Most likely scenario is a return mid-September/beginning of October with reduced capacity allowed in stadiums.
