The Team 20/21 season
Re: The Team 20/21 season
Seems as good a solution as any, and I could see a world where that season ends up being something like March-July next year.
Based purely on a lot of projections that there could be a winter wave. I hope that is wrong but if it happens, it will devastate next season. I can’t imagine a world where we are putting crowds in stadiums in 2020... I would imagine just about all football below the championship isn’t viable in such a world.

The problem is as long as people keep flaunting the social distancing and leaving their homes as little as possible rules, then I'm thinking we may well get another wave of this virus, creating another lockdown scenario, I have been lockdown 12 weeks now.can't see our league starting till end of October/ beginning November, it's very much down to people 's actions how quickly this virus can be arrested. stay safe and distance, stop the virus spreading.,
Re: The Team 20/21 season
The problem being those that say it is a government con and figures are inaccurate etc and they just want to cause panic where there is no need, and of course, the idiots who think "I am OK F*** the rest"onewayup wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:03 pmThe problem is as long as people keep flaunting the social distancing and leaving their homes as little as possible rules, then I'm thinking we may well get another wave of this virus, creating another lockdown scenario, I have been lockdown 12 weeks now.can't see our league starting till end of October/ beginning November, it's very much down to people 's actions how quickly this virus can be arrested. stay safe and distance, stop the virus spreading.,
How do you cure stupidity?
Re: The Team 20/21 season
That won't be allowed to happen because the Euros are next summer so they (UEFA) won't allow leagues to continue whilst Euros are on, even though not many players at National League North etc will be involved (if any)

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Looks like the National League are aiming for a September start “with concessions in place” for Steps 1 & 2 for the 20/21 season.
You would assume that this would be limited capacity inside stadiums and also subject to how this virus pans out until the beginning of August (which is when pre-season would have to begin for a September start).

Hopefully things will become clearer in the next few weeks. I am sure AA has identified his targets and will be watching and waiting to see who is available. Confident we will be in a strong position once we get the go ahead for the new season to start.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Plans for the proposed National League restart in September for Steps 1 & 2 includes a caveat that stadiums will operate at 25% capacity.
This isn’t ideal for us given the gate & matchday income to turnover ratio.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
It’s a good idea, and one which I am sure the board will be exploring.
However, there will be two issues with it. The first being negotiating with DRFC to get out of our current lease agreement for a season and the second being securing primacy of tenure with DMPRFC.
Given that we pay DRFC a significant amount in rent each season (and this was due to increase per annum next season with the addition of 2 more home games) I am sure they will be concerned about a drop in revenue in this climate.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Would either of those still be necessary for a short term pandemic contingency period if it were for a couple of months?

Regarding the current contract I assume we would still pay it and rent from Mowden. it would be worth it if the income from the extra fans would be more than the payment to Mowden for match by match basis until attendance restrictions are lifted.
No idea if the FA would allow it.

think any proposals had to be in and approved by the end of March as Gloucester will be playing at Bath if Meadow Park isnt finished by the season starting.MB86DFC wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:43 pmDarlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 10:18 amKnowing how DRFC can be, yes.

If this is the case, that would be 750 , that gets the season ticket holders in plus a few moreDarlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 9:47 amPlans for the proposed National League restart in September for Steps 1 & 2 includes a caveat that stadiums will operate at 25% capacity.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
I'd think it would be very hard to implement, would away fans not be allowed, who would be responsible for implementing social distancing, as surely fans would congregate behind the goals or in the stands?
Re: The Team 20/21 season
All games all ticket. Imagine an allowance made for away fans and if not taken up then clawed back.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 4:00 pmI'd think it would be very hard to implement, would away fans not be allowed, who would be responsible for implementing social distancing, as surely fans would congregate behind the goals or in the stands?
Responsibility would be on the club to do appropriate signage to support distancing if fans decide to congregate that is their own stupidity. Same as when you go to any public space right now the guidance is there and it is down to the public to follow it.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
Can't happen. As simple as that. Totally unfair on some clubs. Great for Farsley who don't get anywhere near 25% of their capacity. Not so good for us. 750 is a big drop on our average crowd. OK if there's something happens like clubs are subsidised for the loss off earnings that is caused by how far the 750 is below their average, but ain't gonna happen.
The league therefore have to allow the suggestion of live streaming and clubs to keep a great amount of the money if they do implement the 25% thing. Apparently someone wants a big share of it if allowed {not sure if this is NL or BT Sport or both} but NLN and NLS clubs are rebelling. BT Sport are kicking off about it, despite clubs in our league getting bugger all. DJ mentioned words to this effect in the Netcafe.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
BT sport are greedy s@ds. Sky and Amazon are both making a significant number of PL games free to view, BT are not. NLN/NLS clubs need to stick together and find a way to fight this though not sure how.
By September it is possible social distancing will be down to 1 metre rather than 2, otherwise schools, pubs etc will go mental.
This should mean more than 25% capacity can get in to matches.

Astra zenica are supposedly well on the way to developing a vaccine in Oxford university trials. Let's all keep our fingers crossed this is over the line by September and our nationals get their jabs before it's snapped up by the USA who have also poured billions in the hope of ridding us of this sodden virus.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
It would be ridiculous to pay DRFC rent and then also to DMP for the use of the Arena. That should be the absolute last resort, and actually won't happen. The rent is paid to DRFC on a game-by-game basis, but we wouldn't actually be playing matches there if we did move to the Arena temporarily? I don't believe you can pick & choose grounds according to FA regulations either, it will probably have to be one or the other for the season.MB86DFC wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:43 pmDarlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 10:18 amKnowing how DRFC can be, yes.

If a move to the Arena does happen for a season in order to increase the number of fans that can attend games, then the best-case scenario is DRFC agree to it for little or no compensation and we return to BM the season after to continue the lease agreement.
Re: The Team 20/21 season
If we’re contracted to pay DRFC an amount per year regardless of how many games are played at BM, but can play elsewhere and earn more money due to the game by game rent at another ground being less than the takings from the extra fans allowed in then it makes perfect sense to do so as income will be higher than if we stuck to BM with its limited attendance. I would hope the FA are a little bit more flexible in the ground rules due to the potential restrictionsDarlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 5:47 pmIt would be ridiculous to pay DRFC rent and then also to DMP for the use of the Arena. Re: The Team 20/21 season
The rent is calculated on a match basis, not per annum.
As far as I understand it, no games played at BM equals no rent due to DRFC to stage football matches.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
I doubt it’s as simple as that as we could just walk away and not pay a penny.
Re: The Team 20/21 season
It’s obviously not that as if it was we could walk away at any time with no cost. I expect it’s a match fee with a minimum guaranteed matches per yearDarlofan97 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 7:42 pmThe rent is calculated on a match basis, not per annum.

Re: The Team 20/21 season
I didn’t say that it was that easy.
I explained that if we didn’t play matches at BM, then we wouldn’t have to pay DRFC rent to stage those matches as the rent is calculated on a match basis (i.e not a fixed amount).
Obviously there will be a number of other additional costs which we may share with the Rugby Club, and not forgetting any tenancy agreement worth its salt will include a clause which states that the tenant pays compensation in the event they terminate the tenancy early (i.e when we had to pay Shildon a hefty amount in 2012).

Obviously, I am not implying we can walk away for nothing, we have a tenancy agreement to play our football matches there for xx years, we couldn’t just up-sticks and play elsewhere without compensating DRFC.
I am just explaining that we pay rent calculated on a match basis (i.e not a fixed amount per annum).
There will be additional costs shared I am sure, and a hefty termination fee if ever we wanted to leave prior to the tenancy agreement being up.
You’re misinterpreting what I am saying.
