No, not me trying to wind anyone up, but what @Bostonutdstats claim on twitter. I have repeatedly tried to point out the correct position to him.
Any of you on twitter may want to correct him because the muppet doesn't seem to know the truth

Who cares.....

Yeh couldn't really care less it's a stat from a Boston perspective can cut it how he likes.
Re: Darlington Formed 2012
So after years of arguing that the club were not formed in 2012, you are now happy for people to state Darlington were formed in 2012?
Strange that you aregued so much against this in the past, now you don't care

He can state what he wants really, a bit like you on your troll twitter account.
No point getting upset with trolls, they just feed off it.

The club was formed in 1883 but if he wants to track how Boston United have performed against Darlington since 2012 then that's his prerogative.

Re: Darlington Formed 2012
Spen has a point.
We have had to fight tooth and nail to be recognised as the same club since becoming fan owned, in the face of ignorance, bloody mindedness and trolling.
And now people are saying we don't care if others say we went bust and reformed in 2012? Why did we bother arguing it in the first place then?
I don't know whether the Boston fan just doesn't know the facts or whether he is willfully ignorant - thanks Spen for attempting to put him right on our behalf.

Re: Darlington Formed 2012
But all it was was a list of their biggest loss % against other teams.
If he had done it as the full history of DFC we wouldn't have even appeared on the top 5 or bottom 5...
It is just a bit irrelevant. I'd be more inclined to care if it was something like a list of the oldest clubs in England and we weren't included as formed in 1883 or similar as that is about is.
The stats were done from a Boston perspective and the teams that they have been most successful and unsuccessful against. The fact he took a cut for us from 2012 onwards is kinda his choice to do it.
Even more so if it was a deliberate attempt to troll as it basically just gives them what they are after - which is exactly why spen has highlighted it on here.

Although the Boston fan is clearly mis-informed on our situation, I am past trying to correct individuals on this subject. Some just won’t be told.
We are legally the same club, we know we are Darlington FC and it certainly feels like a continuation of the many memories we have had watching our team play.
That’s pretty much all there is to it.
I think Spen just wants us all to get our knickers in a twist.
He has failed.

Indeed, just ignore the trolling numpties.
They must have pretty sad lives trolling other teams messageboards.
I actually feel a little sorry for the sad little feckers
We know that we were formed in1883 that is all that counts.

Re: Darlington Formed 2012
The re-born club never got the football share, so maybe why some say its a new club established 2012 especially in football terms. If the club did gain the football share then They would have not gone to the northern league.
I may not live in the north east anymore but i still support the north east teams
Re: Darlington Formed 2012
The stupidity of the share issue is that a share is granted to the club, not a person. It belongs solely to the club, not an "owner".shildonlad wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 3:55 pmThe re-born club never got the football share, so maybe why some say its a new club established 2012 especially in football terms. In reality the Know FA could simply have issued a copy of the original share and told RS to wipe his backside with the original.
They did not do so simply because they wanted to make an example of us for the way the club went from problem to problem over a decade

Re: Darlington Formed 2012
I have always believed the share problem to be a complete red herring.
A few months before we had went into administration, the FA had updated it's rules regarding clubs in administration to basically say that any club which exited administration without agreeing a CVA would be "treated as" a new club and not allowed to enter the pyramid any higher than step 5.
That's what they got us on, they simply read the shiny new rule book to us, called us a new club according to their own new definition, and it was so.

The club was not reborn, not sure whether you just simply can't get that through your thick head or whether you think you're being funny.shildonlad wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 3:55 pmThe re-born club never got the football share, so maybe why some say its a new club established 2012 especially in football terms. The share issue is utterly irrelevant because even had Radged Strings handed it over willingly, the FA would still have got us on the new rule about clubs exiting administration without agreeing a CVA.

Re: Darlington Formed 2012
Ok name me another club thats the same club, not a phoenix club that has been demoted 3 divisions since 2012? Cant think of any, if the fa wanted to make an example im sure points deductions could have been applied or a 1 division demotion Which would have placed the club in the northern premier division (evostick) and no im not trolling its facts. The club may has well been liquidated like halifax, chester, hereford, ilkeston et all, would still have started up again in the same divisionGhost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:33 amThe club was not reborn, not sure whether you just simply can't get that through your thick head or whether you think you're being funny.shildonlad wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 3:55 pmThe re-born club never got the football share, so maybe why some say its a new club established 2012 especially in football terms. Re: Darlington Formed 2012
No, your opinions are not facts.
One thing I DO agree with you, is yes, we may as well have been liquidated like Halifax, Chester, Hereford, for all the good that remaining the same club did us.
The reason that the FA didn't give us a heavy points deduction like they did with Bournemouth, Leeds and Luton - who all, like us, exited administration under new ownership but without having agreed a creditors CVA is because the FA changed the rules after them and before us. The rule became that any club exiting administration with no CVA would be "treated as" a new club.

Fact still remains. There was only ever 1 person with enough voting power to actually vote the CVA through - came with strings though.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 9:33 amThe share issue is utterly irrelevant because even had Radged Strings handed it over willingly, the FA would still have got us on the new rule about clubs exiting administration without agreeing a CVA.
If handing over the share was job done might as well have agreed to the CVA the outcome was the same for individual concerned.

The club ultimately is the fans. They are the constant, and although only footifan still remains from 1883, the baton passes from generation to generation.
If we, as supporters, feel the club is the same entity, then it is.
That's disregarding the fact that legally, financially, and in the eyes of the football authorities we are the same club.

Yes Spyman but now I am Footifanreturns as I could not get into my old account.
Times were hard in those early days, we used to go to the games by foot, no fancy charabancs then or later horse pulled trolly buses.
Having to walk to Evenwood to see us beat Spendymoor in the Pitchforkers Cup was tough that first season, going through all those cart track rutted roads was quite a hardship.
That was made up by the early success of winning the second ever Durham County Cup in 1884 making us the
" Pride of the County " were great, especially as it was only our 2nd season. The much coveted " The Pride of the County ", a title that was often claimed by other upstarts like Darlington St Augustine's , Evenwood etc.. Competition was fierce in those days, we lost out to that Bishop Auckland Church Institute the following season in the County Cup.
Oh those Derby days against the Darlo Saints were tremendous occasions, post match in the Black Bull in the Marketplace drinking Ale or lashings of Mead in the Drover's Inn at Cockerton on the way back from the Pit Villages were legendary.
It was amazing the speed of the Stop Press scores from other games around the county in The Northern Echo the next morning always had me in awe of the technology in those days.
Those early days against Newcastle West End ( whatever happens to them ? ) & the Ironopolis from Port Darlington were memorable too. In fact we had to wait 25 years until 1908 before we could laugh at the re-election kings from that place near Seaton Carew.
Losing our first FA Cup game to Grimsby 8 - 0 in the 2nd Round was rather disappointing, especially after us & Walsall Swift's got a bye in the first round, even though drawn to play each other in the First Round. Not even a lucky losers draw, who could imagine such a thing happening.
We made the most of the Grimsby day though, making a holiday of it on Cleethorpes golden sands more than made up for it. Especially those new fangled Fish & Chips were great, although there was a guy called Pete from Darlo outside whining about the price of a tuppenny Haddock & a whole Penny for a bag of chips. Some things never change...I don't think he even bought any anyway, some people just like to moan, he even predicted a 8 - 0 win for us as I said some things never change.
Any way Spyman thanks for jogging my memory about Darlington FC... You are correct our name is & always has been that, 1883 was our birth year 137 years young.

Bit before my time I am afraid. I played for them at "Fortress Polam Lane" changing rooms were interesting to say the least because they had no roof, glass on the floor, and no running water, and stank of urine. Theory was German bombers aiming for Feethams itself in an attempt to demoralise the good Townsfolk of Darlington, bombed the pitch and buildings by mistake.Footifanreturns wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:44 pmAye BGA I think I remember you playing at Chestnut Grove.bga wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 8:28 pmAbsolute Comedy Gold!
