Osagi gone

Post by darlobaz791 » Mon Feb 10, 2020 1:55 pm

Hearing a strong rumour that Osagi has his contract terminated last week. Shame as he’s clearly talented and didn’t get much of a look in after the international call up in autumn. At least the assist at Walsall will live long in the memory.

Its confirmed on the club twitter thingy - by mutual agreement. I suppose if he didn't figure in Armstrong's plans then better for both sides - he gets the chance of a move and some game time, and it frees up his wages.

A great shame as I think he had something different to offer from our regulars in the midfield, but accepting that we do seem to be over-stocked in that department and he hasn't had much of a look in, it does have the air of inevitability about it. Nice lad so wish him the best for the future.

He was one of Woolnoughs finds I wonder if he joins him up at Durham City.

That will be Durham USA if the Club website thingy is true!

I'm surprised he was not loaned out as he's never had a look in over recent months - seems a really nice lad - I wish him well

A real shame, I don't know why AA didn't give him more game time. Good luck for the future.

He was offered to Northallerton but didn’t want to go that low

I feel a bit bad for him. He had a decent run, then got an injury and an international call up, and hasn’t even had a sniff since then, despite doing nowt wrong.

I wish him all the best. Seemed a really nice lad. Hopefully he lands a deal somewhere else. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at Blyth until the end of the season if nowt else. He would walk into their team.

Because Wheatley, Hatfield, Holness, Reid and Atkinson are considered to be better players?

Hope that helps you work the answer out.

PS Bascombe isn't a bad player though, not knocking the lad at all.

He's definitely been unlucky to find himself at a club where there is strength in midfield, I also think he could do a job at another club at this level.

Okay, let’s drop Wheatley and Hatfield eh.

That’s why he didn’t feature more because those 2 have been bang on.

Was it not the case that when Liddle got injured that AA was set on signing another left sided defender, and since then we have lost Lambert, Holliday, and now Bascome, with Bell on loan. Is this leading to making room for someone else coming in?

He has also since got Atkinson back from long-term injury.

Liddle may be back this weekend at the earliest, if not the week after.

I think question was why he didn't get more game time. Atkinson has been injured all season so hasn't kept him out of the team and same with Reid only been with us a short while. I do however agree that the others are probably better players.

I think it's obvious why he's not had more game time. Hatfield and Wheatley have formed a superb partnership, Reid has added a physical presence we were lacking playing behind Campbell, and Holness has also done well when given the chance.

Perhaps if Wheatley's return to fitness hadn't coincided with Bascombe becoming unavailable for a short while, we'd be having a different conversation, but our results since Wheatley came in to the side have been more positive than when Bascombe was occupying that role. I'm not saying that it's as simple as that one change being the difference but I'm sure it's a factor.

from memory Osagi did get a run in the team, then had to be pulled out because of international duty and hasn't got back in since. Wheatley getting back to fitness being the main one. Decent player, but we have better, so no point in holding on.

Good luck to him

Good luck to the lad.

Still convinced his assist versus Walsall was a miss kick. Hit's the turf first and scuffs it along the ground! Not complaining mind it was epic in the away end!
