Looking forward to this one, team should be well rested , and AA should have selection options.

Me to it should be a good game and another win. Added bonus I’m a guest in hospitality.

A real possibility if we get the 3 points we will be in a playoff position. No idea on AA's starting lineup with Reid,Atkinson, Tez,
Wheatley and Martin available, strongest squad we have had this season.
Big test against another big, direct side and have a feeling it will be Thommo's big day.

Away at Alfreton was the match when our players finally got it together. They took the battering that Alfreton gave out - then outplayed them.

Liddle in particular was brilliant.

Personally I'd go for (if Liddle has done his Hamstring and isn't fit):

------------------------ Elliott ------------------------
Hedley ------ Storey ------- Laing -------- Watson
-------------- Wheatley --- Hatfield ---------------
Donawa -------------- Reid --------------- Rivers
--------------------- Campbell ----------------------

Subs: Connell, Galbraith, Holness, Thompson, Martin

Could easily move Campbell to the left and bring in Martin for Rivers. As others have said above the strength of the starting 11 and the bench is a million miles away from where we were from last season and even the start of this season. Loved watching what Alun has been building this season. Would be good to get a win and give our goal difference a nudge on Saturday. We've been good at home this season, but maybe haven't scored as many as we should have.

We all know what Alfreton's threat will be. But to be honest if we can get the ball down and play at the pace we know we can, not sure they would be able to live with us.

First of a run of games against teams in the play-off mix, and could be a vital 6 pointer. If we can get a win here, it will be a great boost.

Looks like Liddle is out for 6 weeks with a grade 2 hamstring injury ☹️

Liddle will be a big miss for that long, a loan will probably be looked at longer term, but I'd expect Watson to slot in on Saturday or us to go 3 at the back if Alun is uneasy with playing 2 unnatural full backs.

Cant see a loan myself. Watson more than capable, Galbraith can play there, or go three at the back as you say.

Agreed Liddle will be a big miss, but AA has a number of options to cope with a big physical side like Alfreton. Tez Galbraith could slot in and wondered whether Atkinson is ready to come in for at least a spell on Saturday. Have faith in AA to do the right thing.
Any chance of seeing Trotman again this season?

I think we’ve already had the discussion about Galbraith at LB at this level. It’s a no from me.

Might well play 3 at the back against Alfreton to try to negate their long ball tactics. That would mean we could use our best midfield 3 of Hatfield Holdness and Wheatley,2 wide players and 2 strikers.
Elliott
Storey Laing Galbraith

Holdness Hatfield Wheatley

Donawa Reid Martin Rivers

Subs. Watson Lambert Bascombe Campbell Thompson.
Shows how far we have come to consider having Thompson and Campbell on bench duty.
Not put a sub keeper in as AA doesn’t normally name one.

I like that line up. But I would put Campbell in from the start and have Reid on the bench.. I just think that Campbell would be better playing off Martin, and I think his pace would worry the Alfreton backs.

I think Armstrong has said that Watson will play, but he'll struggle to do 2/3 games a week, so he might look to bring someone in. He's also stated that Tez is a CB and not a LB. I like Armstrong more and more

Whole thing may be academic unless this rain stops. Just been out walking near BM & all the fields have some standing water in. It will be a tester for our drains but forecast good for tomorrow, so fingers crossed the game is on.

Clear and frosty overnight with a minimum of -2 so I hope we get the pitch covers on

I am going to go with no we won't be putting the covers on and it will be fine.

Fingers crossed but I wouldn't expect any issues tomorrow.

Now I have wrote this it will automatically be worse tonight and the game called off

If we leave it, then the match will be postponed tomorrow. And it's not because you have jinxed it.

The forecast is clear and the Met Office don't get stuff wrong just hours ahead.

We are fools if we have ignored the forecast. Expect a nice sunny, crisp white morning, and a day with nothing to do.

Met Office have updated their forecast, not quite as cold tonight with a frost in "some places" rather than "most places"

Tomorrow will be the 8th game in a busy sequence that started V York on the 21st of last month. I will have seen them all - all being well, and we've hd some good results during this period. That's 8 games in less than a month.

I think there will be a light frost, the game shouldn't be under threat.

Haven’t seen any forecast to suggest it’s as low as -2. Seen 1 degree
