Darlington V Solihull Moors

Post by poppyfield » Tue Jan 07, 2020 8:31 pm

Would think most who started on the bench last Saturday will feature in first 11 on Wednesday night.
Looking forward to the game , how many away supporters will make the trip? No idea what their away support is like , one bus full, at best.

I'd be surprised if they brought more than Gloucester did on Saturday. I'm sure AA will change things around, but we'll still have a strong team out, to try & make progress in the FA Trophy.

There was about 7 of them at the final whistle when the Gloucester players came to meet them.

Just had a look at their fans forum and they are quite pessimistic, struggling to get numbers on their coach.
"Cummon guys, 25 on original trip, that's down to 3.
Another two were raised on the coach thursday, please we cant go there with 5 and get laughed at.
Please we could still go to Wembley then youd want to go...!!!"

Hope we can give them nothing to go home with!

Commentators reckoned around 12, overall crowd of 812. MOTM Elliott, with honourable mention to Storey.

Got to say, every single Darlo player.....take a bow.Effort, guts and skill in abundance and thank god football was the winner tonight. Will be some sore heads as there must have been at least 50 crosses into our box, back 4 dealt with the aerial bombardment superbly and Elliot was excellent again.

Harrogate Saturday and would not put it past these lads to get another win if they can recover and get some rest.Loved the way we kept playing football in total contrast to them.
This result will send a message to teams in our league and this was no fluke result as we could easily have had another couple of goals.

We've won as many FAC and FAT games this season as in our previous seven seasons combined (admittedly there was a season where we didn't compete in either competition, and a further season where we played in only the FAT but even so...)

Some squad we have as well. Gary Martin is allegedly sorted for Saturday. AA has a tough job to select the team if Wheatley is fit too. Not to mention Reid cup-tied, Atkinson back on the bench, Holmes running pre-match. Can’t wait for Saturday! Interestingly we play it to a finish without a replay. Straight to extra time and pens.

Very reminiscent of Arsenal v Leeds. Elliott kept us in it first half, then we started playing it on the ground & Omar took our chance well. Lot of tired legs at the end, but every man did us proud.

No wonder they only had about 15 fans tonight. I wouldn't cross the road to watch dreadful hoofball like that, never mind suffer a 340 mile round trip on a Wednesday night. Constantly lumping the ball into the air for the many giants is clearly effective in their league but I'm glad that dreadful way of playing the game got what it deserved. Well done to our lads for digging in and repelling the bombardment and for making sure football won in the end.
