It definitely wasn't 280, it could have been 218. Very embarrassing for PolarBear, such pathetic support for their cup final. If you want to see decent away support at this level, you'll only have to wait till New Years Day, when Darlo come to town.
It was 218, according to Spennymoor themselves (check their Twitter)...
The twitter was incorrect, I would imagine in Robbie's role he will have this spot on.

Think Spenny completed it after hearing the announcement and probably misheard.

Which is wrong - they must have misheard the PA announcement.

280 is the correct number, from the turnstile & online sales numbers.

Fair enough, must admit I thought I heard 218 in the ground, and i could well believe it, looking at how sparse it was...

They chucked a bottle of coke at the celebrating players. Ainsley thought his side didn't deserve to lose and a terrible refereeing decision killed them.
I was a bit surprised that the ref didn't seem too concerned about the bottle being thrown. I might have expected him to ask for an announcement to be made, but he seemed more concerned about making sure that Campbell was booked for over celebrating his goal. As to Ainsley's comments, I didn't quite understand his thinking. He thought that the second penalty shout shouldn't have been awarded, whilst acknowledging that the one that wasn't given should have been. So you lose on the roundabouts but gain on the swings, it still would have led to a loss, so why gripe about it as if his team didn't get any luck. I thought that the ref and his linos weren't at the races but I don't think it can be said that Darlo got any real benefit of their sometimes odd decision making.

I thought our penalty was a bit soft & if that had been given against us, we'd have been furious. As for the penalty shout before our actual penalty, I didn't think it was a penalty. Campbell's confidence was obviously boosted by his goal at York & we are definitely seeing a different player from when he was low on confidence.

The difference with Campbell now is that he isn't the only threat. Reid/Martin if he signs, are going to not only take the pressure off him but free him centrally to find the space to work these openings and with his finishing abilities he will score goals. We have seen this in the last two matches, this is what we have been crying out for all season and since Tyrone O'Neill returned to Boro.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Well all those who were predicting a tough Christmas set of fixtures, were a bit wide of the mark. Yes on paper they were tough games, but in reality we have raised out game considerably & beaten sides well above us in the table on merit & with considerable skill. Well done AA, you must be very proud of the team you have built.

The ref was inconsistent and missed the 1st shout when Reid was bundled over as he was about to shoot.
Their goal came from a poor decision not to put the ball out then mix up & a pinpoint cross which was despatched neatly by a great header that gave Elliott no chance.
There were times when their long hopeful punts caused issues & we didn't play our best passing game.
Nice to see Thommo get his 100th goal & bust the Tin Shed goal hoodoo, but Hatfield was an outstanding MOTM. Back 4 very solid, midfielders chased & harried well, Campbell slotted his chance away in great style, even the subs came on to seal the game. Great effort all round by AA, 50/50 team & club staff. Would like to think some of the floating fans will be converted or at least come back again for more.

Well. What can I say about the game yesterday.. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did several members of my family who came up for Christmas and joined me at the game.. Unfortunately it will be a while before they get chance to see Darlo play again.
I thought Darlo deserved the win and played by far the better football. The referee was very poor with some very strange decisions, not just against us but also against Spennymoor.. And as is usual in this league the linesmen just took the lead from the ref.
I thought both penalty shouts were justified and the first one more so than the second. A lot of shoving, holding and deliberate blocking goes on whenever a team defends a free kick or corner but that does not make it acceptable.
Thought Campbell played really well and was too much for the big Spenny players to handle.. Playing alongside of a bigger player like Reid suits him and the team benefits.
MOM for me was either Laing or Storey who I think are an outstanding pairing and are improving in every game..
The whole team work very hard for each other and the subs add extra energy.
This season is all about building for next season and it's great to see such strong foundations being put into place.
I'm pretty sure there will be more ups and downs this season but things are looking good in My Opinion.

My first game of the season (note to self, I really need to make more effort).
Throughly enjoyed the day. The result, atmosphere and teamwork shown by Darlo was off the scale!
Managed to have very drunken chats with Thomo, Alun and Will Hatfield, which also made my day.

My head hurts.....

Just sorting out transport for Blyth now, Come on Darlo.

Apparently objects were thrown by the spendy fans at Campbell when he scored at there end.
Do you think we might be able to identify them in the crowd?
To be fair Campbell did go RIGHT up to them and give it the Hulk Hogan ear cup, which was hilarious but not really worth being booked for! Throwing stuff is not on and the hypocrisy from every club that moan about the conduct of our fans continues to be amusing, but if you taunt a crowd full of daft kids, it'll happen.

Well in recent weeks we have inflicted third place Chester a third defeat of the season played superbly against a physical Solihull Moors side from a league above inflicted second place York city their first home defeat of the season ended spennymoor towns thirteen match unbeaten run. - now for second bottom Blyth Spartans I hate to be a killjoy but darlo being darlo don't you just know what's going to happen next.

After last season's game at BM, the Spennymoor MD issued a statement saying: "I’m also very proud to pass on a commendation from the Police concerning the behaviour of Spennymoor Town supporters in the face of provocation. There is no place in football for the extent of abuse that our officials, management, players and supporters experienced from a minority of Darlington supporters."

Maybe now would be an opportune moment for them to remind some of their little angels about the dangers of hurling missiles towards players, having earlier also tore down a flag

Great game & enjoyed the hospitality experience, a lot better than I was expecting. Thought we were the better team & Campbell's score was brilliant. Great crowd & really pleased we got well over 2000. My estimation of 2500, would have been spot on if Spennymoor had brought a decent following, was it announced as 214, which is absolutely pathetic, considering the run they have been on. Perhaps no free transport put them off. Groves must be wondering why he bothers.
Your obsessed with spennymoor crowd, probably over 300 as a few in the home bar having a drink, including 5 of us, and it was 280 in the spenny end, not 218.

Entertaining game between 2 good sides. I was a little surprised at how direct spennymoor were, but they’re good at it and cause problems when they launch it to Taylor so I suppose why not play to your strengths. Credit to Storey and Laing who handled Taylor pretty well overall.

Campbell is looking very threatening at the moment - the signing of Reid + Martin coming in soon should give us plenty of threat going forwards. It’d be great to make a push for the playoffs

Pleasantly surprised with the attendance which was decent, even if spennymoor brought surprisingly few. The flag incident seems to me much ado about nothing, but disappointing to hear spennymoor fans threw objects onto the pitch.

Onto Blyth where hopefully we can pick up some more points to keep on the tails of the playoff pack

It is two different catering people, one is the Rugby Club and one is a specialised Burger van that comes in during segregation.

Spenny got the professionals to serve them, hence why they got the better deal

Having watched the game and the highlights, I can only assume that Ainsley the Spenny manager had turned up at a different ground when he said in the Northern Echo that Spenny controlled the game. They were certainly physical, and played a lot of long balls, but controlled game?
To be honest you could see why they struggled at the beginning of the season when Taylor was injured, as he is a major threat, and must be one of the best forwards in the league.
Hoping for a better ref in the away game, for both sides, and especially watching for players leading with there elbows in aerial challenges, which seemed to happen a few times in the first game.
