Are we only allowed to draw bankrolled tinpot pretenders in the Trophy? FFS.

Eh. It would be a decent test, and at least it's a home game on a Saturday.

It's simply the law of averages Quakerz. There's a lot of them about.

Great draw & as I said on another thread it will bring in a few extra fans on Wednesday. It could have been a home game against poolie!!

My opinion

Well, for my opinion.
I think it is a very poor draw for us..
As Ghost says, they are a bankrolled team.
They are also a full time team and as such will be a very difficult side for us to get anything from (providing we can dispatch Solihull of course and that will be very difficult also)
Like Solihull, they are doing very well in the league above us.
They are not a big attraction so I cant see there being a decent turnout of Darlington fans.
And finally they will not bring many fans with them as not many of there fans travel to away games.

Given the bad luck we have had in the draws for both cup competitions, I think the team(and management) has done exceptionally well.
You never know what lies ahead though, If we can get through both of these two tough Trophy games we can get through against anyone

Agree with the above that it’s far from a great draw. Trophy is a bit of a weird competition in that only some of the National League sides actually take it seriously. You get a lot of odd results and surprises, particularly in the early rounds.

So as Mister E says, get past Solihull and then Harrogate and who knows what could happen.

I saw the preseason friendly ay Harrogate & we more than matched them & that was against there first team. I reckon Harrogate won't be pleased with the draw, whoever they play, as they know that they'll be in for a very tough game.
