Great draw today.
When is the replay?

I thought all games are played to a conclusion on the day. Extra time then penalties

Teams agree between themselves prior to the game. I’d have rather finished it today. Can’t see many attending on Wednesday night tbh

Games go to replay unless clubs otherwise agree in advance

I agree it will probably be a poor crowd but why should we sacrifice a home game god knows we get enough away draws.

Because we’d have been better rested up for York in the league where we could do with a win.

Because we’ll be lucky to turn more than a few hundred quid profit once match costs are taken into account and the proceeds are split

Because it sounded as though we were on top towards the end and probably could have got a positive result

The only advantage of a home cup game is that you may have a slightly better chance of winning the game - I’d argue we had a very good chance today in ET

Think of it as just substituting one of the training sessions with a vigorous workout against a bunch of hoofers. I'm looking forward to it as well as the game against York who have been playing poorly of late.

As is AA said they would rather be playing than training, hopefully it won’t go to ET.

I'm loving this transformation of Darlo into a competitive cup side and I too wouldn't have handed them the advantage of the tie only being settled on their own ground.

I doubt that Solihull will bring many to the replay, definitely a crowd of under a 1000.

A few hundred quid profit? If we only get a crowd of 800 at an average of £10 a person, that's £8000. Do our match costs really amount to thousands? Do we still make a loss on printing the programme? What about the 50/50 money?

We will be lucky to get 800.

However 800 * 8 (likely to be average of 8 with concessions/children = £6,400 (Remove VAT gets you to approx. £5,340.

£5,340 - Rent (Lets say £1,500) down to £3,840. Then remove any costs for security if we need it, say £500 so £3,340.

Coach cost for Solihull £800 leaves £2,540.

Any other costs we might have like matchday costs for player food/referees etc. lets guess at £540 leaves us with £2k so £1k each.

Now play with any of the numbers a little and you can make more profit but let's be honest it won't be much and the costs could be higher.

Are you saying we pay rent to the rugby club on a match by match basis? I thought it was a fixed amount?

It is a fixed amount - for the fixed games.

Good point on the 50/50 draw - it may make us about as much as the profit from the game. Rugby club will stand to make more than we do from the fixture.

Whatever we make from the match (personally I think we will get a gate between 500 and 600 and be lucky to break even) at least we get £1,250 prize money for losing or £3,750 for winning.

It'll be interesting to see what Flowers does on Wednesday just before their big promotion battle with table toppers Barrow next Saturday. My feeling is that he will rest his top men and bring in some of the hundreds of fringe players he has at his disposal. They are all 7ft tall but hopefully our footballers can cut them down to size. Good to see Flowers slagging off his own players, the pitch and everything else and giving no credit whatsoever to the opposition.

Having tall players is clearly an advantage but having small players like us also has its advantages so I didn't see what the problem is really. It's still 11 against 11.

The pitch had no effect on Solihull's performance because the ball was never on it when they had possession!

19 first team squad bulked out by youth team players to 32. Not exactly "hundreds"

There was a recent situation with the pre season match V (I think) Halifax. I know about this as someone in the know told me.

Basically it was their game but they couldn't do it at The Shay. We said the game could be switched but it would still need to be treated as their game (i.e., them picking up the pitch renting bill) as otherwise we would lose money and couldn't afford to do this. It's a sad state of affairs, although I find it hard to believe that we won't make money from Weds night, especially as there was always an option to finish this game in one go, which we never took.

Best stick to the facts on this one. There's a squad of around 30 full-time players, including one 18-year-old and the rest from 21 up to 35 years old. That squad isn't "bulked out by youth team players". Nothing wrong with that because they are heavily bankrolled by their rich owner who admits himself that he has ploughed in the money to acquire proven players with the aim of taking the club to League One. Let's not pretend it's some kind of self-financing little enterprise achieving great things on a tiny outlay and a car park.

That was the game where Atkinson got injured. So far I can only remember seeing him play v Motherwell in the friendly.

Bit like the Pride of Co. Durham and all that 'advertising/commercial' revenue, then?

I agree, I think it’s unlikely we could conceivably not make money from the game, and I’d suspect the board agrees, which is why they wanted replays not to finish on the day.

I think we have a good chance of an upset. They won’t fancy it, it’s on a big, decent surface which will favour our style of playing.

More reasons for us to get down. I’m actually heading up that day anyway, so I’ll likely go to this one. It’d be great if we could even get 1,000 down. I’m very surprised we’ve not made the tickets a bit cheaper to be honest, although I realise Solihull would’ve had to agree to that.

It’s not a tenancy, it’s a license to use the facility for a set number of days during set times.

If it was a tenancy we’d have certain rights.

I see, I wasn't aware of that. No wonder DJ wants to negotiate something better. I guess that also means DRFC don't have the same legal obligations that a landlord would.
