Is the gate money split for the replay?
If not it could be a tidy sum with the TV money.

Not according to Craig Stoddart; "Each club receives £33,750 when chosen for a live TV replay, much-needed money for fan-owned Darlington.".

And on The Northern Echo, too: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/ ... ref=twtrec.

That is a tidy sum!

The gate money is split too. So that's the TV money, 45% of gate money from a sell out crowd + extras.

Absolutely brilliant news. Our FA Cup run will now have been worth what, about 100k to the club already in total? It makes a world of difference to a club like ours.

I hope it (the TV money) goes straight in the ground improvement pot for whatever we decide to do next. Now lets get a famous win on TV

Personally I would like to see some of the money put towards the team, to keep the ball rolling so to speak - not all, but some.

And thinking of money, this magnificent run and it's financial awards has been achieved without the brilliance of Mr Martin Gray, and without the dirty money of Mr Raj Singh, contrary to what we were lead to believe by both of them, a few years back.

Personally, i'd use the rest on the team - i.e. whatever we've achieved so far in prize money, the extra gate receipts etc... The TV money is a purely unexpected and i hope we use it as a one off spend to do something tangible for the club.Yes, 33k would probably get us another good player at this level... but what do you do at the end of the season? We'd have to reduce the playing costs and lose someone assuming we don't go up, or get another boost from somewhere else.

Now if we put the money in an infrastructure fund then, it gives us something tangible and allows us to grow a little. I suspect if we have a sellout crowd against Walsall, some of Blackwell's deficiencies might be exposed again. 33k would probably buy us some terracing for the open end (probably not with a roof right now, but something that is expandable later to make bigger, and to put a roof on). What that would mean is if we get another bumper crowd, we don't hack our own fans off, and we can segregate things a little easier in future. I think that's a better use of bonus funds. Even if we get involved in this sports village idea, our own ground would be years away. Having some extra terracing in the meantime would improve the existing match day experience no end. As long as it's something sensible that can be expanded upon later, it'd be a good investment. Presumably if we replicated the terracing in the tinshed, that is moveable down the line, as apparently so is the tinshed if we wanted to.

The prize fund for getting past the first round is £36k getting a TV game is likely being given the winners prize regardless which is quite nice.

We are in a bit of stick and twist with the squad at the moment.

We also need to pay out on our fine for the pitch invasion and various things which ended up on the pitch. Wasn't that £25k last time?

I assume those that invaded the pitch and threw flares will be paying for those fines, but I won't hold my breath....

So probably with gate receipts, we'll clear £45k hopefully. I'd imagine that any Walsall fans who were wavering about coming, won't now bother & they'll just watch the game on TV.

I can't remember where I picked that up from thought it was at Fylde maybe but there were 6 separate extraordinary incidents submitted that day.

Only thing I can find online regarding FA Cup incursions was a fine for £100k for Reading a few years back which was reduced to £40k on appeal.

I'd like to see us spend the money on the ground so we've got something to show for it. Treat it as a bonus.

It's an important point about strengthening the squad through cup money. AA said that one of the reasons Blyth did so well was due to investing money in the playing squad due to cup runs. However, if you splash the cash and increase the wage bill short term, that will have to be maintained the season after too, which was what happened to them.
Would hope we can get Alex Storey signed up at least. Dan Maguire on loan?

As long as things are done sensibly it will be okay. Because of failures last season we had to jettison players, that was sensible, but surely things work in reverse when the situation is different.

Maguire is struggling with full time football from what I understand, so that might not be a bad shout!

With regards to the money, surely lets just treat it like its not even there until the end of the season. Al has done a great job of sticking to the budget so far and building us a very good foundation to build on next season on the pitch. Stock pile it and add it to what the fans raise next season and we can build a team capable of a very strong promotion push.

It may be a dumb question but where does the £33,000+ figure come from? I can remember seeing a post elsewhere that suggested that getting on TV would be worth £67,000, so I assume that the 33,000 figure is a split of that, but I don't know if the 67,000 is reliable, and the same for all TV companies, and is it certain that the money is split down the middle between the two competing teams? I ask partly because when I was listening to the Harrogate game last night the commentators were talking of the prospects of getting through (this was before they went 2-1 down) and getting on TV, and they seemed to think that they would get all the TV money. I also reasoned that if the gate money is only split after the cost of putting the game on is deducted, then splitting the TV money down the middle would seem to benefit the away side more who do not have the trouble of accommodating the cameras and crews and any additional cost that this might incur.

Any money coming into the club is welcome. Joe Public has to realise our club has to be sustained by the owners, - fans in our case. It is a tightrope existence so we cannot afford mistakes. Also, Blackwell Meadows does not belong to us, we just rent the ground. Why should DFC pay to improve infrastructure? It is better to save some of the earnings into a contingency fund for say, the Sporting Village or even to buy our own land. Yes, spend some on player bonuses & giving contracts to those like Storey who have helped us in this run, but not getting into expensive long-term commitments. There may be some fines to pay after the misbehaviour of our fans at Walsall - the flare throwing & pitch invasion.

There are several reports out there that confirm the figure, including the Northern Echo.

I can find this one from last year on the FA website:

http://www.thefa.com/news/2018/nov/12/f ... ort-121118

The TV companies only pay half the fee for replays. No idea what the logic of that is though.

So if the first game had been on TV we would have got the £67.5k.

Both teams get the same amount regardless of being home or away.
