Well the curse didn't strike yesterday. I presume the manager gets some sort of award presented to him? If so can it be done at a league game & not before the replay?

I don't go on the club website very often, unless people put a link on here. Well that's great news about him already getting the award.

I thought it was real testament to AA's preparation and planning for the game that the Walsall boss hooked two of his player after just 20 minutes. They were being completely outplayed and it looked like Operation Certain Defeat for them at that time. Clarke had been outflanked by AA's gameplan although it was a bit surprising that Walsall had started the match with two of their better players on the bench.

Cheers for that Pete. What if the BBC said, 'Well Alan, whilst you're on here, we might as well tell you that your replay will be shown live'. That's my dream and I'm sticking to it.

Well there doesn't seem that much competition, apart from perhaps Bromley v Bristol Rvrs, who are 2 divisions apart.

Really pleased for the man, he deserves the award & publicity. Cannot imagine what we would have done without his scheming & how he has kept us rolling with all our injuries & international call-ups. He has been spot on with loans & putting spirit into the side

The other thing is the story of the first game. They like matches which show the magic off the FA Cup. Firstly, a 97th minute equaliser, but also 1229 away fans for a 3 hour trip to support a 6th tier team. Add in our renaissance, 2 guys rescuing the club with a bag of money, fans raising 1 million plus to return an exiled club home, and you have your story.

Alun came across very well in his interview on FA Cup MOTD, very articulate in his assessment of the game and what it means to be part of a fan owned club 👍

Interesting that he says Donawa and Bascombe won't be allowed to go on international duty due to that cup replay. Can a club do that?

I was really impressed with the interview - came across well and even got a bit in about televising the replay. Loved it.

From my football manager ( the game ) days I thought you can only do that for friendlies. But in competitive games you weren’t allowed to do so as a manager. Not really sure if that’s still true, or we can anyway as it’s a competitive game against Mexico on the Wednesday I believe.

If we can, tough choice, as Mexico is a big game to be involved in.

It’s tough. We’re short of bodies but they may never get the chance to represent their country against a huge opponent again. Can we manage without them?

In short, no. Not against a full time outfit.

Great interview on FAMOTD by AA. But we may need to have a whip round to buy him a larger shirt. lol. Hope his direct plug to get the reply televised didn’t go unnoticeable at the BBC. He came across as a likeable and honest guy, especially his comment on Hedley’s sending off. Just the kind of football character that goes down well on TV.

I'm sure the national FAs can effectively get the players banned from playing domestic football if they don't turn up also...I am sure this was a news story not that long ago where there was a player refusing to travel with his national team and they threatened to effectively have him suspended from club football.

Fergie did that all the time.
Players allegedly injured and unable to join their National team, then miraculously recovered.

Seems that FIFA rules were updated in 2016 to basically mandate turning up.

Can't see how we can force them, we could ask if they could be released but it's a big game v Mexico for them.

Not looking good really.

Foreign & Commonwealth Office seem to see Mexico as a fairly risky place so AA should not let the lads go. ;)
