Shockingly (to me anyway), we're only ranked 69 of the 79 in Round 1 (67 if Welling and Potters Bar pull off shock replay wins).

For the record, here are the teams below us:
70 Dulwich Hamlet
71 Altrincham
72 Oxford City
73 Poole / Hayes & Yeading
74 Stourbridge / Whitby
75 Nantwich Town
76 Carshalton Ath.
77 Kingstonian
78 Maldon & Tiptree
79 Chichester City

There's a great stat in Craig Stoddart's Echo report; this is the first year that Darlo have won 3 FA Cup ties since 1988/9. That year we had three home draws and saw off Runcorn 4-2, Northwich 6-2 and Halifax Town 3-0 (featuring Les McJannet's classy backheeled goal). What makes this year's run all the more impressive is that we've been drawn away 3 times out of 3.

Back in the day I taped that "off of" the telly and watched it over and over. Even my mackem supporting mates enjoyed that goal.

According to my records this is the first time we have won 3 consecutive FA Cup ties away from from home in the same season.
Lucrative away tie with 6,000 + crowd and TV will set us up with cash for next season and keep AA’s two year plan on track, regardless of the result.
People are starting to get ahead of themselves with 3rd rounds away to Man Utd. We have achieved what we dreamed of, now take the cash and consolidate our position in the league, and possibly have a run to a possible play off place.

You mean bow out gracefully?

Absolutely not!

The lads will battle to the final whistle and the run is over. Who knows where it will take us?

The round we just won Darlo got £18750 and losers £6250 in the first round proper the winner gets £36000, on the FA website it doesn’t say what the loser gets, anyone know?

To me, any tie home or away to an EFL side is great. It’d provide an upset opportunity and depending on the opponent, possibly a TV fixture.

But I totally get the logic of playing the weakest teams at home too.

Worst case scenario would be an away tie to a southern-based National League side. A trip to Dover or Bromley for instance wouldn’t provide much by way of excitement.

If isn’t Sunderland away or a home tie, then definitely Ipswich away. Would be a decent attendance and be great for AA to go back to Portman Road.
Will probably end up with bloody Sturbridge or Torquay away..!

I want a big name at home. Get us on tv, plus try and create some sort of buzz about Blackwell Meadows for once.

Stourbridge away I'd take. Good chance of winning and drivable for me.

I've made a complete f*** up for the first round. Wife and daughter are going to a concert at the NEC the same day as Leamington away, on the 9th, so I booked an Airbnb in Marston Green that night. Me and boy would go to the game, they would go to the gig, we'd pick them up after and everything would be great. Except I didn't check it would potentially be FA Cup 1st round day. I'm now torn between complete selfishness, of wanting an away tie within 70 minutes of Birmingham, and what is best for Darlo.

Nott's County at Meadow Lane. Saturdays form would sweep them away. I doubt there's a better player than , O'Neill at level 5 - is he a relative of Les? As for glory hunters, it's good to have worth hunting. Quakers just keep getting better.

I know Whitby are in the league below us, are they the lowest team ( in terms of league) left in the cup, from the northern section? Anyone

Nantwich are technically the lowest ranked 'Northern' team. They're one place below Whitby in the NPL.

Gutted I'm working tomorrow evening, till after 8pm. So I'm taping BBC Look North, to see the extended highlights & coverage of Saturday's game  & then I'll be taping BBC2 for the cup draw. I'll have the radio & mobile switched off, to try & avoid knowing opponents before I watch is as live.

Love how excited everyone gets and the thoughts of Sunderland Away, get the bye, a league club etc.

I love hearing every opinion on hoping we get this or that and what's best financially for the club, this is exactly the conversations you would dream of at the start of the season.

Getting on TV would be fantastic and the money that could bring in to the club. Whatever happens though it's been a great run for once in the FA Cup, now just a question of how good it will be.

Roll on tomorrow night the excitement of the draw and then three league games in advance of that match, the Monday after the FA Cup is game is the FA Trophy draw for us. Be great to have a run in that as well and keep the buzz around the club going.

What's wrong with VHS? Now I'll be taping the programmes on my SKY box, but thanks for your concern.

Bit of a shame the first round is not regionalised anymore worst ever fa cup first round memory was traveling back from Barnet on the supporters bus the year we went out of the league after a 2 0 defeat and listening to the fa cup draw in the radio we were drawn to return to Underhill a fortnight later which turned into another 2 0 defeat how all our hearts sank talk about groundhog Day. Talking about groundhog Day and teams from our own league don't forget I think we've had a little bit of fa cup history with Altrincham over the years.
