Transfer Rumours
After AA’s article in the Echo, who do we think we can get?

Re: Transfer Rumours
It seems ever so quiet at the moment with no rumours being banded around.
It wouldn't surprise me to hear Kneeshaw being signed up and Osagi being looked at other than that haven't a clue. Since the boost the budget finished its been a bit of a damp squib.
Hopefully Alun coming back from holiday and the fixture release coming up will get us going again

Re: Transfer Rumours
well Hopson was a rumour, but would we have had to pay for him? Is he not under contract? I think Alun is back today so hopefully he can arrange a few more meetings etc
Re: Transfer Rumours
Noticed Scott Fenwick liked AA message about players asking for inflated wages etc.
Maybe completely wrong but he seems the sarcastic sort so maybe a dig at AA.
To be honest I would probably have been ok with Fenwick and Sweet so a bit disappointed that they have gone to Blyth. Didn’t like Fenwick last time particularly but we equally never really gave him a chance either. Realistically we were always gonna struggle to get Macguire and these two would have been north east lads with a bucket full of goals in the past.
Let’s hope we get a better goal scorer than these two in coming weeks.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Would expect that Fenwick may be one of the ones AA was talking about. Personally would not have liked him in our team. Given Blyth signings now wondering if they are splashing the cash (that they would not give AA), because of fans disquiet and may be want to finish higher than us.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Apparently AA was back at his desk this morning and he's got us in for a couple of players.

I would hope he has got us in for more than a couple of players!

Blyth have predominately signed players for the Northern League & some on dual registration (one of which decided to sign for Whitley Bay).50 years wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 1:42 pmWould expect that Fenwick may be one of the ones AA was talking about. Re: Transfer Rumours
I don't really know why there is a sense of panic that we have gone quiet on the transfer front. It's close-season and clubs are on holiday, the next few days will start to see some movements again. Just got to be patient.

You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Re: Transfer Rumours
I reckon Hopson will happen personally, maybe a couple of the Gateshead lads too (Olley & Tinkler) if they don’t get offers of FT football. As for a striker I’ve got no clue who we could go for

Re: Transfer Rumours
And Jordan Watson likely to return too. Certainly plenty of competition in defence.
Re: Transfer Rumours
Seem to be well covered in defence and wide areas, just need the rest of the spine now. GK, CM, ST minimum
Re: Transfer Rumours
It sounds like we can potentially borrow another boro keeper, which is fine by me. This season still depends very much on someone who can score, if we get that then I’m optimistic about next season. Easier said than done though. He may also have to play up front on his own which some strikers struggle to dodivas wrote:Seem to be well covered in defence and wide areas, just need the rest of the spine now. GK, CM, ST minimum

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don't know much about Campbell other than he was very highly thought of as a teenager a few years ago, but looks like he never really kicked on and his record as a goalscorer doesn't look great. Maybe a drop down a couple more levels will see him hit his stride, and perhaps he can rediscover whatever it was he had 4 or 5 years ago. Still young enough to climb back up the leagues if he gets his confidence.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

I agree with AA here - supplement with loans if required but don't use as an actual policy. He must have talked D.J round

Re: Transfer Rumours
To be fair I don't think Wright ever intended to lean heavily on loans, but he spent the budget on such a small squad of our own players that when injuries struck and we had to offload Stuche and Syers he had no choice.
Sounds like Armstrong is thinking along similar lines but is going to try to build a deeper squad meaning we can absorb a few injuries along the way.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I’m not sure we will be able to build a much deeper squad to be honest - I think we will have 16 maybe 17 players in total with the reduced budgetSpyman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:10 amTo be fair I don't think Wright ever intended to lean heavily on loans, but he spent the budget on such a small squad of our own players that when injuries struck and we had to offload Stuche and Syers he had no choice.
