Personally I wouldn't want Alan Armstrong his last few months at blyth were all about the budget, I think he may well not be a happy man should we struggle and money gets tight. We don't want the MG situation to arise again which I fear it would if A Armstrong was here. Just my take on the way things happened at blyth.

You'd never please all the fans whoever was selected here but Armstrong's probably the one who would meet with most support, given his impressive record at Blyth on limited resources. I could see Boost the Budget soaring up to its target. Didn't Hodgy sign him for us at The Arena?
Think you'd be surprised about Blyth's resources.

They're not quite as limited as people think.

If we are going all out for promotion then it’s AA for me. However if it’s consolidation then perhaps one of the other names that has been mentioned.

I think one thing is for sure. Based on Andy Toman's outbursts, we can safely say he didn't make the shortlist.

He's saying he would have taken a pay cut for the chance to lead and revive his beloved club.

His reaction shows whoever didn’t choose him for an interview was totally correct, even Super Les would agree with me we missed a bullet there.

His stuff on Facebook is embarrassing.

What's he been saying? I'm not on Facebook.

I've not looked in loads of detail, but something along the lines of asking what people consider a club legend - someone who played for the club for a short time and won loads, or someone who played for the club for ages and won little.

It seems people are taking that as him comparing himself (someone who won promotion with the club but played for us for a relatively short time) with someone who is perhaps considered more of a club legend but in his eyes didn't contribute as much as he did.

He also seems to be implying someone (presumably the person he's comparing himself to) was taking a wage for the club for two years after leaving, despite the club being in financial difficulty.

Like I said, I've not looked in too much detail so may have misinterpreted it, but all looks very bitter.

Could he be on about a club legend who was at the club at the time of an administration and who was owed money which had to be paid back as it was a football debt? Craig Liddle perhaps?

Sometimes i'm very glad i'm not on facebook. This is one of those occasions.

I wonder when we might hear. Hopefully soon, there is certainly work to be done. I'm really not sure who to expect.

Yes that was my first thought. Seems a strange person to drag up though unless Liddle is in the mix (ahead of Toman) for the managers job - which I can't imagine is the case.

Andy I know you read uncovered, you need to measure what you are saying and express what you're saying in a way that doesn't show you as a complete dickhead.
Your Facebook post is laughable.I don't believe liddell is interested as he has a steady job. There will be happy fans and some not so happy which is always the case with any new manager. But whoever gets the nod let's all give the person a decent chance and get the boost the budget upwards of 80,000. We are fan owned and as such it's up to us as fan owners to make sure that they have a decent amount to wheel and deal, giving us the best chance of getting into the top six /seven this season.

If the successful candidate is currently employed and under contract then presumably we would have to negotiate a release deal with their current club - would be wrong to announce anything before then so may be delayed until next week - thats assuming a deal can be done and we don't have to work our way thru second or third choices.

Yeah I can't see anything being announced today. We may decide on the manager, but I can't see how terms can be agreed and a release clause also agreed with whichever club could all be done today. Having said that, we may have already approached a couple of clubs regarding compensation in the event that their manager joins us.

If we have to go to a back up choice because terms can't be agreed with number 1 choice, then it would definitely be next week though.

Here's hoping we hear tonight and that the club make the right choice - ie not McGurk.

You have to embed the link in your text so you can't see it's for Leinster rugby.

An update: https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/ ... pointment/.

Not sure how people on here will react to this part specifically: "The Northern Echo understands that names are in contention at this stage have previously played for Darlington and an appointment will be made early next week."

Who are we thinking on that basis?
