New Manager Poll
The other thread has thrown up a few names, so just for a bit of fun or debate, here's a poll.
Re: New Manager Poll
For me they have to be "A talented young Manger with a bright future".......oh hang on a minute!Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:48 amThe other thread has thrown up a few names, so just for a bit of fun or debate, here's a poll.
Re: New Manager Poll
I think style of play is something we need to look at. I'd like us to be a lot more direct and hard working than we are at the moment, with a midfield which is fit, strong, and wins the ball back, and at least one defender who will happily chuck some opponents in the air.

I think it's a different Bowyer at Bradford City, but may be wrong.

Well, it's not likely to be the same one is itDarlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 12:03 pmI think it's a different Bowyer at Bradford City, but may be wrong.
And it's Bower at BPA, anyway.

I really loved how we played under gray, but no.HarryCharltonsCat wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 11:51 amVote for Gray incoming.tdk1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:59 amI think style of play is something we need to look at. Re: New Manager Poll
What’s the fascination with Swailes?
Granted he has done well with Dunston this season, and had a very good cup run, but there is a gulf in quality between the Northern League & Conference North. It would be a risk, especially if the likes of Armstrong, Aspin, Bower & Flanagan are interested.

Re: New Manager Poll
Shocked no-one has mentioned Craig Liddle as yet so there you go.
Re: New Manager Poll
He's heavily involved with youth coaching at Boro and seems he'd rather keep on down that road than a return to management, especially given the position we're in.
I'd be happy with Thirlwell, Swailes or Aspin. Bower too but I don't think he'd realistically move.
Hard no for Gray, still very unconvinced on Armstrong given his feelings around budgets.

Re: New Manager Poll
Quite a few people said that they were dead against the return of Gray, hopefully the board will take note of people's feelings against him.

Re: New Manager Poll
I see on the same poll on The Tin Shed someone has put in a vote for Darlogramps. Wonder if he'll apply having been given this vote of confidence.

Re: New Manager Poll
Can’t believe Alan White is actually getting votes. Are there really those who believe he was a mastermind who was simply overruled by Tommy every week?

Re: New Manager Poll
I think, given our budget, that this philosophy would see us as a mid-table, at best, long ball team who would be awful to watch, like what we saw away at Alfreton...dreadful. I could take winning ugly if we were a serious promotion prospect, but that ain’t likely for some time. Your team sounds like what we were being served up in the later Gray eratdk1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 10:59 amI think style of play is something we need to look at. Re: New Manager Poll
Think we are missing a fundraising opportunity here. Suggest for every vote, a contribution of £1 to BTB fund for benefit of the new manager. Every one would be a winner.
Re: New Manager Poll
To be fair, we’ve tried the opposite this season and we’ve been, for the most part, battling relegation and awful to watchgrimsbyquaker wrote:I think, given our budget, that this philosophy would see us as a mid-table, at best, long ball team who would be awful to watch, like what we saw away at Alfreton...dreadful. Re: New Manager Poll
This season we have been so frustrating, some of the football we played has been really good but with no physicality in midfield or a real presence upfront we have not been able to sustain any pressure.
Yesterday was very typical of us, some of the passing and movement was excellent, however we never look like scoring from crosses, freekicks & corners because the opposition are always more physical and generally we have two players who might win a header and normally one of them Galbraith takes the set pieces.
At the other end defending set pieces hasn't been great either. We seem to have to work so hard for our goals where the opposition don't, hence why we can play well in a game for 30 mins but not get in front and the opposition hit us with a goal.
Wright signed good footballers but his physical players the spine of the team of Burn, Hughes and Ainge in Def, Mid, For all didn't hit the mark.

I can only imagine he is holding the fort until a new appointment is made then will either look after the academy or leave entirely.lo36789 wrote:Can’t believe Alan White is actually getting votes. Are there really those who believe he was a mastermind who was simply overruled by Tommy every week?
Re: New Manager Poll
I reckon David McGurk is interested, apparently he was at the game on Saturday. Experienced with running an Academy, UEFA A Licensed, publicly stated he turned down the job before as it was the right club at the wrong time and he would want the summer to work with his players in his first job of management.
