Best opponents faced this season

Even though it now looks odds on Stockport county are going to be crowned champions I think brackley town were the visiting club that played the most attractive football at Blackwell meadows this season. Wonder if anybody agrees.

Yes Brackley were impressive and as much as were were woeful, Altrincham were very good.

Altrincham were the only ones I've ever covered on DFR where I had their entire 1-11 memorised by full time, and didn't have to refer back to the team sheet. So I'm going to have to say them, I think

Because of incessant changes, for most of this season I can't even memorise who's playing for us....

Hopefully by the time we play them again they will have signed Lucas Papaconstantinou, just to keep you on your toes. :D

Ha! There's been a few good ones, I'll have to put together a commentary tongue twister eleven at some point

Biggest opponents have been in the main the match officials. Some really poor referees and assistants officiated this season at BM. Brackley played really well but generally, most of the teams were only middling and any team on their day could beat any other in the league (including us!). Any team who showed a bit of consistency and capacity to take chances would finish in the play-offs. We seemed to struggle against teams who had more height and muscle

The referee yesterday was appalling. Every time we have him he is bad. They were time wasting from the earliest opportunity yet the ref didnt make any effort to make them get on with it, especially when it came to substitutions. Yet we were the only team to pick up a booking for time wasting. all the little "kick the ball 10 yards away nowhere near anyone" from them went unpunished yet Galbraith got booked for kicking the ball back to Turner.

This is my thoughts based on mainly home games

Very Good

Brackley - proper team with no outstanding individuals
Altrincham - ripped us up through hard work, but we never got at them

Decent

Chorley - but we should have won
Bradford - played ok at times

Average

Stockport - played them at the start of their run, but saw nothing special
Spenny - perhaps played them on an off day, but they didn't look anything special. A game we should have at least got a point from
Blyth - we destroyed in the home game and they were fairly average in the away game
Chester - they nicked a win, but nothing impressive
Kiddy - up and down team
Boston - won against 9 men I think, but we played well before the sendings off
Curzon - looked ok

Bad

York - didn't go to the away game. Ripped them up in the home game
Guiseley - poor but couldn't beat them
FCUM - beat them without playing well
Ashton - won but they did have a lot of possession
Nuneaton - the worst team, yet we still lost

Didn't see

Telford
Southport
Leamington - to play Saturday
Alfreton
Hereford
