Re: Spenny Bottle
I went to this game, and I've never witnessed a game of football where the ball has been in air as much. It went like this -
Spennymoor - Boof, head/head/head/head
..... Hereford, Boof/head /head/head/head
Spen was there with his flag

Bet you are like me and wish you'd stayed at home. I blame my mother. I only came up because it's Mother's Day tomorrow!theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 6:25 pmI went to this game, and I've never witnessed a game of football where the ball has been in air as much. It went like this -

Don't think Spennymoor won a high ball all day.
It was a shocking performance. I can't find anything good to say about it from a Spennymoor point of view.....
Hereford keeper apart from 1 early save did nothing because he didn't need to.

Didn't need to stop him today. He stopped himselfQUAKERMAN2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 6:41 pmJust stop Glen Taylor and that's them done.

Given their recent form, they might even struggle to beat Guiseley.

Re: Spenny Bottle
According to Spenny's twitter they are under the cosh and need some 'rest-bite', whatever that is.

Re: Spenny Bottle
Decent result for us, keeps Guiseley right down there.
Spenny can beat Ashton for us on Sat and if we could manage to do some work ourselves and beat FC Utd then planning for next season can begin.

What on earth is going on there
Re: Spenny Bottle
Good job they had a good Jan and Feb, cos they've been woeful in March and April (five points from 24). That earlier form should be enough to keep them in the p/offs.

Re: Spenny Bottle
The further they drop down the table, the harder it will be for them to win the play-offs. I'm sure Spen or polar bear will have a ready made excuse.

Re: Spenny Bottle
Chandler is a good player but Chandler is a fool.
He seems to quite often get into the mindset where he thinks it’s all about him. Like at the Darlo/Spennymoor game where he was lucky to get away with his silly actions, and today where he wasn’t so lucky, as it would seem to me that the only way you can get 2 yellow cards in 10 seconds is to use bad language towards the ref.
His team mates were never going to fight back from 3 goals down without him on the pitch, so game over.

Over the last ten games Spennymoor's form has been identical to ours. They've been as bad as us
Played 10
won 3
drawn 2
lost 5
goals for 9
goals against 14
goal diff -5
points 11

Re: Spenny Bottle
Obviously don't want it, extra costs involved in being promoted possibly? Wouldn't be the first club I know of to do this and use to happen a lot further down until the introduction of enforced promotion.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Why would enforced promotion stop it happening? Surely it makes it more likely?

Re: Spenny Bottle
Absolutely shocking on there current form...
In the last 6, there 4th of Bottom and are level with us in the last 10.
Maybe the step up to a Nationwide Division worries them, that Mr Brad will have add more to his already 7 figure investment to sustain them in the next divsion

Re: Spenny Bottle
I'd rather they went up to be honest. The less bankrolled village teams in the league the better in the short term future. They'll all go too far and nature will take its course eventually.
Re: Spenny Bottle
I've thought this Breedon. Just like North Ferriby, when these Village teams get in the NL, that's when reality bites and owners pull the plug.

Re: Spenny Bottle
Brad clearly has deep pockets and I think he's ultimately now dreaming of the league. I don't think that was his plan a few years back, I think he just wanted to get them probably about this far and then maybe that's it. But maybe he has looked at clubs like Fleetwood and thought if they can do it, why can't I? Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't their stadium plan get them up to 5,000 with 1,000+ seats? Ie good enough for the league?
I think that for a while we're just going to have to get used to the fact that Spendy have passed us, that South Shields are going to pass us, and just somehow try and accept that reality until we can organically grow to the next level. I mean it was bad enough being permanently left behind Hartlepool during their IOR years, but now we're talking about potentially being the 5th best non league team in the North East, behind Pools, Gateshead, Spendy and Shields. We need to try and accept that reality, without bitterness or without demanding that "the club" should bring in an "investor" cos it's just not fair that we can't play too. Easier said than done, I know.
Imagine though if we do eventually get the club on a solid enough footing that we can get to the next level, and also get the ground (whether it be BM or SV) to the next level - I think that will be more satisfying that doing it the quick way with a chequebook charlie. The hard part is that this may take many years, but hey, I can wait. There will be a few sh1t sandwiches that we have to eat between now and then though.
