Andrew Nelson returns to Sunderland
Andrew Nelson returns to Sunderland
Confirmed on the official site.
However, I feel we have our ready replacement.......Thommo.
Thommo said that up front is his preferred position after the game on Saturday, and the same happened last year. The reason he suddenly came good was that TW started playing him higher up the pitch instead of out of position for him. In this position I think he's one of the best in the league. I'd like him to play higher as much as possible, and Ainge will have to bide his time on the bench.

Would have the lad back in a heartbeat. Did he win the December Player of the Month?

Nelson will be missed. And agreed, Thommo was excellent up front and I had always wondered if he'd prefer being more advanced than just on the right wing.Vodka_Vic wrote:Confirmed on the official site.

He certainly was never going to be any good at RWB, so mercifully that experiment seems to have been ditched.
Re: Andrew Nelson returns to Sunderland
I think it's worth a playoff spot if we were to get Nelson but I understand how slim those chances are.
Thommo spent a while this season out of sorts and not only whilst being played out of position. But I guess in a losing team that will happen. For me it was right to let him sit and watch for a few games to energize and motivate him again.
Either-way I'm just happy we've got a "squad" so to speak.

Looks as though Sunderland want Will Grigg - well I don't think Nelson has much of a shot at getting in the Sunderland side I think he will be released at the end of the season. He's made a good impression here - hopefully you never know our paths could cross again in the future.

Agree we need Thommo up at the front end. Now all we need is Brown at the back end again. He should never have left.

Will be given a shot higher up or Spenny/York will splash the cash.PierremontQuaker03 wrote:Looks as though Sunderland want Will Grigg - well I don't think Nelson has much of a shot at getting in the Sunderland side I think he will be released at the end of the season. I'd be amazed if he would drop from 3rd tier to 6th tier in one go.
To go to Spennymoor, he would also need to go part time. I am sure he will be able to find a full time role higher up the pyramid than 6th tier

More likely, but who said you would be 6th tier next season, you might be 5th tier and maybe even looking to go full time. All possible under Groves.
