11 years since we last played each other, shame it's not a league game.

Wonder if Raj will turn up and hand over the football share?

Can't get excited about it. We'll have to have segregation and police because there's bound to be some numpties who see this as an opportunity to square up. We'll end up losing money on this game.

I've waited 11 years for this.... f**k Xmas or New Years Eve etc, this is all the excitement I need .dickdarlington wrote:Can't get excited about it.

Yeah my thinking exactly. Costs to stage the match will probably outweigh revenue as most wont be that bothered but the rogue element willdickdarlington wrote:Can't get excited about it. Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Easiest option might be not allowing away fans at all. It's a Durham challenge cup game, surely they'll be playing the kids, and we will (albeit with a scattering of first teamers, like the other games).
Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
From the reaction online this could potentially be the highest gate of the season.

Can't get excited? Are you for real mate...
I'm buzzing to death, 11 long years and now we get to play them again. Doesn't matter what game it is. I am looking forward to welcoming the Hangers to BM.

Not sure if rules of competition allow that. That would be up to DFA rules, if they have ever considered such an issue as i doubt it has ever arisen before
Look at the Checkatrade Trophy where Sunderland play Newcastle u21s. Sunderland have had to offer Newcastle 10% of the ground despite the policing issues etc
Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Quick easy way to deter trouble makers btw ...
Simply only sell the tickets at the forthcoming home games.
Then your idiots will be put off somewhat.
As for Hartlepool fans, allocate them a small amount of tickets , say 300?

we don't want a repeat of Port Vale v Stoke
Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
I can't decide whether I'm excited, as it's a chance to play Hartlepool again after what feels like an eternity (and how things have changed since 2007), or very nonplussed, as it's the Durham Challenge Cup. A real shame it's not in a proper competition, and I too echo the concerns that hosting costs may mean we struggle to make money out of it.
At least the reaction from both set of fans on twitter shows the rivalry is still alive and well after our exile!

Darlo first team v Artlepool yoof on a feezin cold January night at the Arena...aaaaarrrgh!
Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
I'd be surprised if the competition did have rules, but if they do... i mean, if it's 10%, it's 330. If we do allow visiting fans, they should be kept to the absolute allowed minimum, and probably only sell them tickets if they'll come on a club coach. The last thing we need is an incident, and this game is exactly the type to generate one... for a meaningless cup.spen666 wrote:H1987 wrote:Easiest option might be not allowing away fans at all. The comments you must be reading are from people who are on the same planet as TW! I doubt we will get 1,000 but happy to be proved wrong.Darlo_CR wrote:From the reaction online this could potentially be the highest gate of the season.

I fully expect you to be proved wrong mate. Think it'll be a good crowd there, the Poolie fans will travel in numbers and a lot of our 'part-time' fans will be out in force.bga wrote:The comments you must be reading are from people who are on the same planet as TW! We'll see who is right! We could STILL be in a relegation fight, meaning we, and they, play the kids......AndyPark wrote:I fully expect you to be proved wrong mate. To clarify, if this was the league, or the FA Cup/Trophy, it would be massive. This is however, of no importance whatsoever.

As for crowd, this will be 2,000 plus easily.

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Fuck the competition, it's still poolie.
Christ, harp on about "the good old days" and get a chance to relive just a snippet of it and you all start moaning on.
Let the police worry about the trouble as they do across the whole footballing spectrum. Gauge interest and get the Arena if necessary. Good idea selling home tickets at home matches as that drags some of the little stone island boys out the boot and shoe for once on a Saturday.

I am certainly looking forward to this. I hope TW talks to Money and they agree to field there first team and they publicise this. Policing arena would be easier and to be honest I think both set of fans in the main will really look forward to this. Could gaugue numbers expected by getting tickets on sale early. Plus a good test for each team.

Re: Darlington v Hartlepool United
Looking forward to this game tbh even though it is a minor cup competition.Hopefully Poolies will have quite a few first teamers playing and not just kids to give it some extra spice.Reckon there could be up to 1400 on the night which would be great for the club.
