Tonight it has been announced that he’s leaving the club. Thanks for everything Gary, its been a pleasure!

Think it has been on the cards, injuries haven't helped him this season.

But let us not forget what an unbelievable player he has been for us through the last 6 seasons, he is Mr Darlo.

Nothing but admiration for what he achieved during his time here and a massive reason that we are where we are. After his first departure we were noticeably weaker without him and his return gave us the impetus for another promotion. He can be very proud of what he’s achieved

I think a testimonial would be a great idea this summer, he certainly deserves one for the past 6 years!

Great servant - will go down as a Darlo legend for sure.

Helped to lead us to some of our finest moments of recent years, bravely came back from a dreadful injury, answered the call to help manage the club in our moment of need, never gave less than 100%, Darlo to his core and someone who fully bought into the ethos of our club... and even contributed massively to the £20,000 snow dive . Thanks for everything and good luck.

Had a great performance at Stockport, both in attack and defence. Thought he was close to being man of the match, helping hold a youthful side together. A great way to bow out. Sad to see him go but his chances to be involved in the team will undoubtedly have been lessened by the emergence of Heaton and Vaulks.

Looking like Leon's on his way too - Kev Burgess has posted something on his Twitter about it.

Genuinely disappointed about Brown. A great servant to the club. Perhaps in terms of ability he'd hit his ceiling, but we'll miss his leadership qualities.

And of course he stepped up to the plate as caretaker boss after the Atkinson-Gregan fiasco. He'll be missed.

200% agree with you.. I've always had a soft spot for browny... 100% darlo

Agreed Lucan,just wonder if Spenny,Blyth or S Shields would be interested in Gary as no way should he even think about the Northern League, far too good a player.The way Joe ended the season it’s Spenny for me and would be a great move for Gary.

Echo many of the statements above, Garry was Mr Darlo, a true leader, if possible it would be great to see him play in the legends game .

Been announced where? Not that I am doubting the news but nowt on Club site?

Gary was an inspirational leader for Darlo and he is one of the main reasons why we moved up the league so quickly. I'm sure he'll find a new club and he'll go on to do some great things for that club as well.

It was announced at the awards evening.

It was confirmed last night that he will be playing in the legends game, I think Leon Scott will be too.

Thanks. I echo all the comments above. I thought he was MOTM against Stockport so great way to bow out. Thanks for the memories Gary glad I saw your last cmpetitive match!

Absolutely spot on comments above, Gary Brown has been integral to the resurgence of Darlington over the last six years and he became part of the fabric of the club in the same way as many defenders before him.
To my mind, and this is a compliment, there are echoes of Smudger Smith in Gary Brown at Darlo.
I hope Mr. Brown reads this page and appreciates the affection and respect in which he is held.
All the best to him wherever his future takes him.

My favourite player since our early days at Bishop. Always gave his all and a joy to watch. I can recall several times when he single handedly got us out of trouble and I shared his delight with the goals he scored. Like others I'm so sorry that his time with us is up and I too wish him all the best. He's left us with many happy memories- thanks for them all Gary.

The Spennymoor play-off semi final at Heritage Park.

He led by example and - defence and attack.

Can’t forget his save against Lancaster either!

Players with such commitment don't come around that often
.
Anything he supposedly lacked in playing ability was more than made up for with his leadership skills.
