R.I.P Sir Bobby , one of the nicest people i was fortunate enough to meet.
Re: Sir Bobby Robson
Very, very sad day. I don't often get sad at people in the game passing away, but this bloke was a true legend, and I mean that in every sense of the word.

Re: Sir Bobby Robson
There aren't too many genuine football legends in my eyes, he was up there with Moore, Matthews and Charlton (R). I do feel sad at this news, football will miss him.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Re: Sir Bobby Robson
Good that he was still around to see the fundraising match last weekend. Very apt timing really.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.
Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

RIP Sir Bobby. A true football man and a gentleman with such infectious enthusiasm.
Re: Sir Bobby Robson
Legend, a real gent and his loss will be felt around the world, through those people he came in touch with over the years in through football.
As has been said many people pass away with football connections but this one has got to me.
The game will sadly miss him.

Re: Sir Bobby Robson
Although not unexpected, still very sad.
The game is full of arseholes these days (agents, maverick players in it for the cash, two-bit managers, crooked chairmen, etc, etc), but a 'proper football' man has passed on today and there aren't many left like him, sadly.
Sad for Bobby and his family, but also for the game in general.

Re: Sir Bobby Robson
A legend of the game and a true gentleman who was treated disgracefully by the Sun and others during his time as England manger and dumped far to quickly by Newcastle UTD.
There are few people respected by everyone in the game and he will be sadly missed

It's amazing how strong a human can be. I've no doubt that if there hadnt been the charity match he may well have passed a few weeks ago. Giving someone with a terminal illness something to aim for can't half buy some time. Look at Jane Tomlinson.
RIP Sir Bob

A true legend and the game won't be the same without him.
Two things that make me smile is Bobby constantly called Kieron Dyer Kevin and when Shola Ameobi was asked what his nickname was from Bobby he said Carl Cort.
R.I.P Bobby you'll never be forgotten

Re: Sir Bobby Robson
A very sad day, not just for the North East, but for the beautiful game as a whole.
He dedicated his life to the game and should be honoured.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a plinth waiting outside St. James' already.
RIP indeed.
