Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
By all accounts us and Hartlepool have loaned Spennymoor Town pitch covers to try and get the quarter final replay v Bromley on tomorrow night.
Good to see us help out Spennymoor and repay favours from using the ground, not sure they will get the game on anyhow if the snow is as expected but can't knock them for trying.

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Good to hear, but if the forecast is correct, there's no way the game will go ahead.
Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Great gesture by both Hartlepool and Darlington.
It's good to see local clubs helping each other out.
Thanks to both clubs

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
It may not be the pitch that will be the problem, clearing the terraces will be the problem area.
Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Good luck to them. I'll be somewhat envious if they make it to Wembley, but if they navigate Bromley and Gateshead, they'll deserve it.

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
I think it'll all be in vain, as heavy snow is falling and I'm sure it'll be worse up there.
Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Covers did the job as pitch is playable, but game off as owing to weather forecast ...
With Bromley having to travel so far
Shame, but thanks anyway to Darlington and Hartlepool

Sensible decision, but it doesn't help you're fixture backlog, especially if you win and then have to play an extra 2 semi-final games on consecutive Saturday's. You'll be knackered by the time you play us on Easter Monday.

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Excellent of Darlington and Hartlepool to help us out in our time of need.
Really needed the game to be on tonight and it being rearranged for next Tuesday means Chorley away will now need to be moved. Paired with Telford and Kidderminster home games still to be rearranged, plus the Salford away and Brackley home fixtures if we go through, we'll have a very busy couple of months ahead in the run in to the Playoffs.
Credit where credit is due though. Brilliant gesture! Thank you!

There's hell on. Bromley players and fans arrive and game called off an hour before kick-off. Spenny will be playing three games a week if the gluepot doesnt recover soon.

I guess they'll be responsible for Bromley's travel expenses? Good job they have a rich patron. Fixture backlog for them will be a nightmare.LoidLucan wrote:There's hell on. Weather foul Saturday as well.
Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
The FA Trophy quarter-finals really fired up the fans to turn out in numbers last night. Gateshead managed 684, including 125 Orient fans, while Brackley pulled in just over 500. The bankrollers must sometimes wonder why they bother.

If Spennymoor get through it'll e interesting to see how many Spennymoor or Gateshead take down to Wembley?

A couple of taxis should suffice.Darlo_Pete wrote:If Spennymoor get through it'll e interesting to see how many Spennymoor or Gateshead take down to Wembley?

No, it’ll be a chance for the Newcastle fans to visit Wembley!

Now is not the time to cry
Now’s the time to find out why
I think you’re the same as me
We’ll see things they’ll never see
Darlo’s going to live forever!

They went last year with South Shields.
Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
I seem to remember the crowds at the arena being equally shocking until we played Gateshead in the semi's so I wouldn't criticise something that we are also guilty of

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Would we only get 559 fans if we were playing for a semi final place.Don't think so somehow. The support or lack of it that Gateshead get is a joke, why do the owners bother.D_F_C wrote:I seem to remember the crowds at the arena being equally shocking until we played Gateshead in the semi's so I wouldn't criticise something that we are also guilty of

Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
Everyone from Gateshead is a Newcastle fan. I don't think Brackley is a particularly big place either. Not sure what some fans expect other clubs to do sometimes, unless our fans are trying to bragQUAKERMAN2 wrote:Would we only get 559 fans if we were playing for a semi final place.Don't think so somehow. The support or lack of it that Gateshead get is a joke, why do the owners bother.D_F_C wrote:I seem to remember the crowds at the arena being equally shocking until we played Gateshead in the semi's so I wouldn't criticise something that we are also guilty of

Which would be odd, as our home crowds are not particularly big considering the population of DarlingtonD_F_C wrote:Everyone from Gateshead is a Newcastle fan. Sometimes on facebook/twitter some of our fans are more obsessed about crowds than anything elseal_quaker wrote:Which would be odd, as our home crowds are pretty poor considering the population of DarlingtonD_F_C wrote:Everyone from Gateshead is a Newcastle fan. Re: Darlo help Spennymoor Town out
In the interests of accuracy, our FA Trophy quarter-final game against Salisbury at the Arena had a crowd of nearly 1,900.
