I know the covers are going on this afternoon, but there is a forecast of heavy snow, with potential blizzards this evening. It will remain cold on Thursday and Friday, with a maximum of 3 degrees.

Must be some doubt, given the night time minima forecast of 0 or -1 until the weekend. It would be a frozen pitch that kills it, not snow or rain. I can certainly see an early morning pitch inspection on Saturday resulting in a postponement.

Yes the pitch covers are going on this afternoon. Amber weather warning issued for Co. Durham for heave snow and possible gale force winds tonight.

Roughly how much of the pitch is covered, by the covers we recovered from Bishop?

Yep about 2 or 3 inches. See what happens today/tomorrow but obviously a question mark over the game currently.

Are the club looking at requesting volunteers to go down and clear it?

I've tweeted saying I'd help tomorrow before I start my shift at 4pm if needed.

Not heard anything back yet.

If they're going to clear the pitch of snow, then they'll need a small army of volunteers, as paths around the ground will need to be cleared.

Should it go ahead, at least Chorley have lost their best player, Nick Haughton. Was on a season loan from Fleetwood and scored 13 goals from 25 games from midfield but moneybags Salford have nipped in and signed him for an undisclosed fee. Their budget must be the envy of a fair few League clubs.

Just looking at the forecast for tomorrow night it needs leaving until Saturday morning as the snow will protect the pitch from the frost. Downside is we'll need an army of volunteers to clear the pitch ready for kick off.

You won't get a reply from the @officialdarlo Twitter feed they never reply... Yes its run by a volunteer but they never tweet you back or like a comment might as well not run it if your not gonna do it properly...

Volunteers asked for for midday tomorrow to clear the stands of snow, and for 8am on Saturday to clear the pitch, with a pitch inspection at 9.30 on Saturday.

That's a lot of snow to clear in 90 minutes.

They will probably clear a few different areas so the ref can get a look and then if it looks ok carry on and hopefully the rest will be ok...

From the story on the official site it looks like it's now down to the fans whether the game is on or off. The pitch is clearly playable underneath the layer of snow. If enough people turn up with plastic snow shovels and wheelbarrows from 7.30am the game will be on.
