Long throw specialist Muggleton on the bench, I think we'd struggle with him so that's good, for now

Nearly 4/1 for us to win now. Terrific odds - too good to pass up.

Don't know how we are hanging on. Getting absolutely battered.
Not strung two passes together.

Not sure such an attack-minded bench was a great idea. Easy to say now of course.

Good away point that, and a welcome clean sheet.
Sounds like we had to dig in but had a couple of chances ourselves.

2 out of 2 clean sheets on the road - a good start. Sounded like a cracking match deserving of a draw.

My apologies, you're quite right - I knew that too because I was thinking about how they're sure to get to Lincolnshire where others have failed when I was looking at the fixtures today.darlo reborn wrote:Away at Gainsborough

Just back from the match god it were great to visit a ground with a great atmosphere both sets of fans singingAs for the game best 0-0 game you will see at our level, York should of been leading at HT but it were not for Bartlett couple of great saves, but 2nd half we came in to it and were unlucky not to nick a win but I will take that a draw a fair result... A shout out to Scotty awesome when he came on and also Saunders ran his socks off as usual.. Great game now on to the team who beat York away 1st game of the season

His first Darlo awayday...
Despite being Sunderland through and through he admitted he has a soft spot for Darlington.

Great point and a fantastic advert for football at our level. We were lucky not to lose Collins in the first half, as it looked like he was the last player when he brought down their forward. My MOTM was Galbraith, closely followed by Bartlett.

Yes - just like a good quality league game from years back, with a big crowd.
It's a shame it won't get mentioned on TV though - however Berwick

Cheers for the life story mate
Re: York City v Darlo Match Thread
For all York pulverized us for the majority of the first half, we had our moments and could have easily had a couple of goals ourselves. Much improved second half. We'll probably be the happier with the draw, but we definitely had our moments. Very close to nicking it towards the end. Massive shift from the lads to drag themselves back into it after being murdered in the first 25. Really exciting game.

Re: York City v Darlo Match Thread
Thought Scott's introduction at half-time made a massive difference to our improved performance in the second-half. At the end Gray looked pretty animated and delighted with the result, which is all you need to say about the performance.

I love this. I started following Darlo after my old dear had her knee fixed by the old physio, Bob Farelly in the early 80s.murtonquaker wrote:My dad was saying York should have been a few up by HT, had it not been for Bartlett...HarrytheQuaker wrote:Just back from the match god it were great to visit a ground with a great atmosphere both sets of fans singingAs for the game best 0-0 game you will see at our level, York should of been leading at HT but it were not for Bartlett couple of great saves, but 2nd half we came in to it and were unlucky not to nick a win but I will take that a draw a fair result... Re: York City v Darlo Match Thread
I still can't quite believe that we made it to half-time goalless. We certainly rode our luck aided by a couple of stellar saves from Bartlett, a committed team defence and York's profligacy in front of goal.
That said, even in the first half we had two excellent chances, arguably the best of the half. Second half we changed it up and got a foothold in the game and were on top for the first 25 minutes and had another couple of excellent chances. Galbraith was immense at centre half in the second half, and Leon Scott's introduction changed the game (yes, you read that correctly). A strong team performance aided by Gray making positive changes at the right time.
I'd have taken 0-0 when the fixtures came out and I'm delighted with the way we defended and the chances created against the best team we've faced in the since our demotion.
Based on tonight, it confirms to me that York will be contenders, but also we have no-one to fear if we can maintain our form.
