So be it. But anyone who is contracted needs to be paid for.

Re: Falkingham
He may not have been on contract, as there was an admin issue in January. Unsure if this was resolved. May have lost out.
Re: Falkingham
Even so, it's a wage off the budget for next year, with portas to return. We have Scott, Turnbull, portas and syers. Cut your cloth and all that.

Knee-jerk reaction or what?! Even with an investor on board, we won't be able to compete with a full-time club.sada8022 wrote:Start of the exodus, who is nextal_quaker wrote:No idea - Craig Stoddart has just tweeted it

Yep - one of the comments on twitter is "this is the beginning of the end"The Golden Hairclip wrote:Knee-jerk reaction or what?! A few players might leave - they always were likely to with York and Harrogate being FT in our division next season. We can't compete with that. Our budget for next season won't be the biggest, but it will be far from the smallest.
Re: Falkingham
meh probably one of the high earners anyway and actually was used quite sparingly and as has already been covered we have 4 other centre midfielders.
Re: Falkingham
It's alright.
As he is now playing for the money rather than the shirt, he will now turn into a pea hearted underperformer - they always do.
Harrogate will get 75% of the player at twice the price.

Re: Falkingham
Well, I for one would like to wish him all the best. (except when he plays against us) My opinion is that he was one of our stand out and most consistent performers last season..He is joining a club as a professional and that was alway his ultimate intention so can't blame him for taking the opportunity

Certainly do not agree with the throw away comments of the 2 previous posters
Re: Falkingham
No hard feelings towards him. I just don't tend to get that attached to players who come and go. It certainly isn't the end of the world.
Re: Falkingham
his contract had finished according to the echo. We get nothing.
I don't see this as an exodus. Just someone who wanted to be full-time. I question how that may leave him financially if he had a part-time job plus football

Re: Falkingham
Good luck to him and he goes with our best wishes. Thanks for your hard work.
Re: Falkingham
Central midfield is an area we have a lot of players/cover and I'd imagine he was quite a high earner given where he came from. He was a great player and it's a shame he's gone but i'd prefer Portas and Turnbull in there if I had the choice.

Re: Falkingham
Not the end of the world, bound to happen with full-time clubs around us. If I remember rightly we never had him under any kind of contract? International complications or something. Non-contract player wants to go pro again. Great player and I wish him all the best, but it's not the end of the club as social media likes to pretend it is.

I seem to recall he was signed on a pay as you play deal.

Re: Falkingham
Thanks a lot. All the best.
Re: Falkingham
He came in and did a job well enough and now his contract has come to an end he's decided to try his luck at full-time. No issue with that.
It's not as if he was a standout performer, we don't have cover or he fucked the club off in any way. Best of luck to him.

Re: Falkingham
Josh or Tom Portas, Tom any day.We now need to give Martin as big a budget as we can, keep our key players and hopefully the budget will allow 2 or 3 quality players to come in and give us a good chance of having another cracking season. One thing we have over the likes of Salford and Harrogate and the majority of other clubs in our league is a good fan base with brilliant away support. That will be a big plus next season and let's hope Martin, the coaching staff and players give it a real go, forget what has gone on these last few weeks and move on. Glass half full time, up the Quakers!

Re: Falkingham
We will lose ambitious players to full-time clubs.
All the budget in the world won't change that until we are professional.

Re: Falkingham
A decent player, who has put in some solid performances towards the end of the season. The chance to play full-time will be what made him leave, plus no contract with us.
