Volunteers

Post by lo36789 » Thu May 11, 2017 10:07 pm

So we need them, we need them to run the club.

We are past needing people volunteering to do fundraising events, distribute 50:50 tickets, sell programmes. We need volunteers to actually define and implement a business strategy and operate the club as a business.

I don't know how to facilitate this. It feels like the DFCSG would be best placed to co-ordinate and initiate. I will pop over an email tonight.

I know investment financially is crucial at the moment but you know what I think development of the leadership & structure of the club could breed confidence for the fundraising initiatives.

If you have any skills, regardless of where you live think about how you could transfer them to support the club. It may be that there will be calls to answer in the near future.

Great post. I'm certainly going to have a think about how I can help.

We have to stop hounding out the ones we do have, as well. As lo says, we need them.

Volunteers giving their time freely are a rare and precious commodity - priceless, and they're going to make mistakes just as anyone in any walk of life can. Even just a minor example, I regularly get the wrong names in commentary if I don't have clear sight of who's on the ball.

We can't force them out of their jobs over this, as apparently happened with Richard Cook over the seats. I worry the pool is already pretty dry (especially the specialist roles we need at the top of the tree) - if we run out of people willing to put their time and effort in, we're done.

And agree too. I can't help - I think - I'm 250 miles away and family circs dictate. But what a great post - no "they / the club / those in charge" sentiment here....we can spank Singh et al in the arse quickly and easily by stepping up in all sorts of ways. We can raise £40k....£80k easy enough?

Just think.....if we somehow figure out how Si.....sorry...how someone thinks he can make a quick buck out of us....we could do the same ourselves without shafting our team....??

This person is doing this for one reason, and one reason only.....for them. Not the club.

Actually... if we worked out a certain persons motives, we wouldn't do the same ourselves as I suspect said person's motives would be immoral. <<all allegedly etc etc *for legal reasons>>
