Seriously. How many people buy into football clubs expecting to make money these days? Especially lower league sides. The odd cash cow aside, the vast majority of football clubs, even in the top flight, lose money.

People buy into football clubs for a number of reasons. We've had some crap experiences, crapper than most, and given our experience we need to think of a way to safeguard against the loonies. That said, not everyone who buys into a club either wants to asset strip it, or turn a massive profit. If they do, they're absolutely daft.

If everybody took your attitude, then half the clubs in England would probably go to the wall.

ask the guy down at Brighton supposed to have spent a quarter of a billion, don't think there is a profit there somehow.

What would be ideal is a investor whos a fan and has a bit football and business knowledge. What about a salford like consortium

Pete, I think you've missed the point...

Not everyone who wants to buy in is doing it to turn a profit or asset strip the club, which is what a lot of people seem to be suggesting. We're attractive to people who fancy a go at owning a football club. We just need a sensible way to prevent irresponsible ownership.

I'm not sure James Morrison is as wealthy as the Neville's, Giggs, Scholes and Butt.

He played 7 times for the England U21's, between 1980 & 1982 and he scored 3 goals.

Just wondered if potential investors might consider one of our few assets to be the potential sell on of the players that are currently being brought on through the youth and reserve set up at the club.

But do DFC actually have any rights over those in the Youth setup. Are they not scholars at the MG Football Academy? If so, surely MG and his staff have an obligation to get them the best deals they can at the highest level of football possible.

I'm under the impression those leaving the academy can sign wherever they are able without anything due to DFC

Ahhh... In amongst all of the other social media stuff over the last few days I missed this completely.

As the content of the discussions is confidential, I would assume we shouldn't be getting informed of the £10k 'sweetener'. So in reality, it's selective confidentiality.

I think it is confidential unless all concerned parties agree to release any information. The £10k is something they all must feel is worth releasing at this point.

£20,000 a week is a million a year so with player pay these days who knows who has a bit of money to spare?!!
