Potential new investors

Post by Darlo_CR » Mon Apr 24, 2017 3:25 pm

News from the club website: http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk/32649-2/

Interesting note at the end of the statement:
In the meantime the investors have today kindly matched the “pitch funding” with a £10,000 donation, the club is extremely thankful for this very generous gesture.

Its still a redeemable pledge, and again might impair the run of the mill investor.

Clear the confusion quickly has to be the immediate way forward.

Yes generous but also a good way to start it all going

All parties must be commended for moving this forward so quickly considering it was only mooted on Friday evening. I think this will also make the prospect of investing in the pitches more palatable for many.

i dont really understand this

why on earth would anyone invest in darlo with no facilities to raise extra income.
if we had our own ground i could understand it but the only assets we have are the stands.

The "who, what, why, where, when" questions will all be answered as we move along. Clearly there will be a big decision facing us all once we know all the details.

Now there's been a statement sent out by email from Wayne to supporters group members.

The wheels are spinning.

Wonder if Richard Upshall is involved. May have a plan for a scaled down version of his previous plans for BM.

"Also at Friday’s forum we launched a very important fundraising drive but unfortunately it seems to have been completely overshadowed by Martin Gray’s opinions about a change of ownership."

Ouch!

Goes on to stress the importance of supporting the fundraising despite the new developments.

Almost as professional as MG calling us a joke.

Why indeed.
Why would United's class of 92 and their billionaire friend invest in Salford City.. They have already put in more than they could possibly take out.
Perhaps they want to give something back..
Or perhaps they would like to be involved.
Just a thought like.

For the good of the club some things are better left unsaid. Least said... soonest mended.

People would invest on the basis that as the club moves up the league the asset that is the club has more value than it does now.

Chelsea can't possibly generate enough income to pay out what Abramovich has put into it, but if he chose to sell it now, it would raise considerably more than he bought it for, and likely considerably more than he has paid in, in total.

The same principal applies here, albeit with smaller numbers.

Mmmm, seems like Mr Wildes only lasted 6 months at Port Vale but did a good job.

I was only joking. Actually, of the two, I'd much prefer it to be Paul Wildes. Richard Upshall strikes me as a bit too self-centred for my liking. A big netball fan, as I recall. Maybe I just don't like the sound of Dubai-based owners. Pools know a lot about that sort of thing.

Wildes struck me as more of a football man and his pitch was to include 2 fans members on a 5-person board of directors, with the supporters owning 40% of the club. Unfortunately his discussion with Singh broke down and off he went.

Just going off the article where it said he left them promoted and in good health.

Looks like my initial gut instinct of "bullet dodged" may have been right, then.

There is no certainty this approach has come from the Investors MG had been speaking to is there it could be someone else? Isn't this fun!

One thing is for sure, the one-upmanship in various statements needs to stop right away.

The last thing we need is the manager falling out with the board or the board of the supporters group.

Friend of mine knows and works for Upshall and says he's genuine. He also said he hadn't given up on the BM project but whilst he was committed to the small ground for us and DRFC that's as far as it went. In other words it was BM he wanted not Darlo, although whether that's changed who knows
