Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”

On the Nothern echo website
Re: Fans forum
Sounds like the knives are out. I am not convinced we will have a board of directors after tonight.

Re: Fans forum
Jonathan Jowett as well as Richard Cook has resigned as director leaving only Richard Cook who is considering his position
Re: Fans forum
John Tempest is one left standing but sounds like he is considering if it's worth the hassle.

Re: Fans forum
If all directors resign then we will be breaking FA rules. So important we have a candidate on standby.
Re: Fans forum
Sounds like playing budget needs a significant cut next season.
Re: Fans forum
A £50,000 loan from Directors and Fans this is not good reading. I am logging off now before I depress myself any further!Darlobaz79 wrote:Financial position does not sound healthy at all
Re: Fans forum
What about the budgeting? The club claimed they budgeted for 1,750 fans earlier this season at BM, only to now say they 'hoped' they would get 500 more.

Re: Fans forum
Take into consideration the 500 club then we should base our budget on 1250. We cannot keep guessing figures like this and forward selling to cover costs.

Re: Fans forum
No guarantees about BM being suitable for Football League status. Would need to be 'redeveloped' depending on what the rugby club says.

He stays for now, just watched him on twitter. Passionate as ever but wants an investor or he will walk...
Re: Fans forum
Echo reports MG as saying the football world thinks DFC is a laughing stock. Can anyone elaborate on that? Does he mean the business model we operate under? Seems incredibly harsh given where we were five years ago and what we’ve achieved without a sugar daddy.Darlobaz79 wrote:He stays for now, just watched him on twitter. No manager is worth risking the future of the club over. If budgets need to be cut they need to be cut. For too many seasons we have gone over budget and that is primarily down to the board giving the manager too much money. Yes it's resulted in our rapid rise but it's also created numerous other problems (both financial and the ground). If he doesn't like it he can walk. I don't want this to happen but we need to put the health of the club first.
If there was an investor interested in helping the club they would have come forward years ago, anyone who comes along now must be met with extreme trepidation. I don't mind a minority investor becoming involved but if they own 51% we might as well not own the other 49% as we lose control.

Agree I am not sure I like the sound of 51/49 investor/fans...got to be the other way round.liddle_4_ever wrote: don't mind a minority investor becoming involved but if they own 51% we might as well not own the other 49% as we lose control.
I just don't see what is in it for the investor. I will be forever suspicious and wary that we are going to have to pick up the pieces again.
I don't understand why we can't compete with Blyth Spartans...
