Re: Game off
Suppose the slow motion, square passing, static, playing it across the back 4 type of boring rubbish it will be then with about 2 shots on goal in the 90 minutes.Much prefer to watch our level of football, real footballers.

I didn't think that we would have lost two matches out of eight at Blackwell,
Just our luck.

Re: Game off
Good decision. the rain would have made the game a lottery and the attendance would have been pretty low as well. It's a no brainer in my opinion.
Re: Game off
This might sound like a stupid question but why is it off due to waterlogged pitch? Is it health and safety for the players? is the pitch unplayable? I remember watching games in the late 70s and 80s on horrendous pitches, back then they just got on with it.

Re: Game off
Sometimes games are postponed when they would have been played in the past, as they know that one game played in bad conditions, can ruin the pitch for weeks to come. Not saying that this was the reason for tonights game being postponed, but it could be a factor that may have influenced the decision.
Re: Game off
Playing in a mud bath would be of no benefit to us.
Re: Game off
The game is off due to a waterlogged pitch because the pitch is waterlogged.Refer to the first seven words of your postdarlo gbh wrote:This might sound like a stupid question but why is it off due to waterlogged pitch? Re: Game off
They turned pitches into mud baths and caused themselves serious knee and ankle injuries through playing on heavy surfaces. But so long as they got on with it....darlo gbh wrote:This might sound like a stupid question but why is it off due to waterlogged pitch? They also had heavy leather footballs which caused brain damage and dementia in later life, and dangerous dilapidated grounds which were a risk to fans' safety, but hey, everyone just got on with it.
Screw this progression lark.
Re: Game off
I doubt the impact playing a match will have on the future condition of the pitch enters the ref’s mind when s/he decides on a postponement.Darlo_Pete wrote:Sometimes games are postponed when they would have been played in the past, as they know that one game played in bad conditions, can ruin the pitch for weeks to come. Re: Game off
I agree, but the referee will listen to what the groundsman and management say and it can influence their decision.biccynana wrote:I doubt the impact playing a match will have on the future condition of the pitch enters the ref’s mind when s/he decides on a postponement.Darlo_Pete wrote:Sometimes games are postponed when they would have been played in the past, as they know that one game played in bad conditions, can ruin the pitch for weeks to come. Re: Game off
Your right so let's ban players heading the ball In case they get Hurt no more challenging the ball. And let's ban boxing, rugby and any other sport people might get hurt now or in the future.Darlogramps wrote:They turned pitches into mud baths and caused themselves serious knee and ankle injuries through playing on heavy surfaces. Re: Game off
Or you could accept the game has rightly moved on and developed since the 1970s. Harking back to it is pathetic.darlo gbh wrote:Your right so let's ban players heading the ball In case they get Hurt no more challenging the ball. Re: Game off
Really? The referee should have the final say and any input from the management teams should not be considered as at the end of the day the referee is responsible for the safety of the players.Darlo_Pete wrote:I agree, but the referee will listen to what the groundsman and management say and it can influence their decision.biccynana wrote:I doubt the impact playing a match will have on the future condition of the pitch enters the ref’s mind when s/he decides on a postponement.Darlo_Pete wrote:Sometimes games are postponed when they would have been played in the past, as they know that one game played in bad conditions, can ruin the pitch for weeks to come. Re: Game off
If both sets of management say no then no referee will play a game. Happened last season clubs complained, home club said their pitch was ruined, referee is no longer refereeing.Darlo_Chris wrote:Really?
