Saturday's big games

Post by Ginge01 » Fri Mar 17, 2017 10:35 pm

I can't wait for them to start, we need three points and then see what happens after that.

A reminder

7th place DARLINGTON vs 9th place BRACKLEY
1st place FYLDE .......... vs 3rd place KIDDERMINSTER
5th place HALIFAX ....... vs Gloucester
10th place HARROGATE vs 4th place CHORLEY
2nd place SALFORD ...... vs 6th place STOCKPORT
8th place TAMWORTH .. vs Gainsborough

I was getting worried that mid season we had a whole day with no messages then up popped ginger. Well done!

Was beginning to wonder if we had gone into Lock down myself for fear of being listened to by GCHQ!

Decent weather today, hopefully a few more at the game, with Brackley bringing a few more as well. Win today and we'll hopefully move up the table towards the play-off places.

This is a massive game for us which we cannot afford to lose, glass half full though and a win today with Bradford on Wednesday will more than likely get us back in the top 5. Quite a few crunch games today.....let's get the 3 points first.

Really tricky task today, Brackley have only lost 2 games away from home all season. If we do win today, I think we WILL get that last play off slot. If we lose, it drags them right into the mix too. Today is THAT important in my mind.

How many do you think Brackley will bring Pete up from Oxfordshire?? More than Harrogate that are 50 miles away..Image

So the best we can hope for is:-

1. Win for Darlo (given) - bookies odds 2:1
2. Win for Fylde - bookies odds 2:1
3. Win for Gloucester - bookies odds 5:1
4. Win for Harrogate - bookies odds 9:4
5. Draw Salford v Stockport - bookies odds 7:2
6. Win for Gainsborough - bookies odds 5:1

which would make the table look like (assuming 1-0 wins and 0-0 draws):-
1. Fylde 34 23 7 4 91:48 76
2. Salford 34 18 9 7 64:33 63
3. Kidrminstr 33 19 5 9 57:30 62
4. Chorley 33 17 11 5 49:30 62
5. Darlington 34 17 9 8 72:51 60
6. Stockport 34 16 11 7 50:36 59
7. Halifax 33 17 7 9 65:40 58
8. Harrogate 34 15 9 10 59:46 54
9. Gloucester 34 16 5 13 56:52 53
10. Tamworth 34 16 5 13 53:55 53
11. Brackley 33 14 10 9 50:36 52
12. FCUM 33 11 10 12 52:52 43

so roughly 787.5 to 1 which doesn't seem too long, unlike the 90 minutes at Blackwell Meadows ;)

Anyway, never mind all this hypothetical stuff, let's get behind the lads & stuff Brackley!
COME ON DARLO!!

Looks like they took a decent 104 to York in the trophy in February.

These two games are a great opportunity for us to get back into the top five with some big games also on Tuesday night.

Fylde v Stockport
Salford v Chorley
Tamworth v Kidderminster

Six points from these two games and things will become very interesting.

Totally agree quakerste, the playoff positions are wide open with these 6 pointers, our fans can play a massive part with these 2 home games.

Lads did what was necessary, lot better football in second half resulting in great goal then backed up with a clean sheet. Also another promising contribution from Saunders off the bench. Well done Darlo!
Couple this with some decent results for us elsewhere and I think we have scraped into 5th. If we can keep the clean sheets coming and taking our half chances, the play-offs are still within our own hands.
Probably the biggest disappointment of the day was the crowd, only 1547. Hopefully, more will turn out on Wednesday night, and Bradford are bound to bring more support than Brackley.

Very disappointing crowd, conversely the 50/50 lottery ticket sales are increasing

Here's one for you Ginge. Having just checked the fixtures, due to the fact that Chorley play Halifax on the last day of the season, our play-off fate is now back in our own hands!

Yup

April 29th
SALFORD vs DARLINGTON
CHORLEY vs HALIFAX
STOCKPORT vs 10th place Gloucester

Whoever built the fixtures for today and the last game of the season can certainly pick them, I wish they could pick my lottery numbers!!!

Think we have a very decent run in Adam, all our home games are winnable and Salford and Fylde away are our toughest games on paper. With all these 6 pointers to come involving our playoff rivals, we really do have a great chance of a top 5 finish.Would have settled for this a couple of weeks ago and seeing how we battled today am feeling pretty confident.Back 4 were superb as was Falkingham.

Ron, I have a feeling we'll beat Fylde. Me and the little 'un are up on April 1st to see the reserves v Hartlepool, then at BM v FCUM on Easter Monday. Also at Gainsborough and Alfreton.
