How to be a Top 7 team

Playing away

Stalybridge....... 0-1 DARLINGTON
BRACKLEY ........ 0-1 SALFORD
Match the effort of your opponent, maintain your composure, keep it tight at the back, preferably with a clean sheet, take your chance(s), avoid being caught on the break, have a goalkeeper that will bail you out of any problems.

Gainsborough... 1-2 FYLDE
As above, if your opponent equalisers, don’t panic, play your game, get the winner.

Bradford ..........1-3 HALIFAX
As above, even if you fall behind in the 2nd half, keep playing, pressure your opponent (Bradford sending off), as a superior team, take advantage, and win the game.

Playing at home

KIDDERMINSTER 3-0 Alfreton (HT 3-0)
STOCKPORT....... 3-1 Curzon (HT 2-0)
Match the effort of your opponent, maintain your composure, keep it tight at the back, preferably with a clean sheet, take your chance(s), avoid being caught on the break, have a goalkeeper that will bail you out of any problems. If they are a weaker opponent, make the game secure or put it away by HT

How not to be a Top 7 team

Playing at home

BRACKLEY ........ 0-1 SALFORD
Match the effort of your opponent, maintain your composure, keep it tight at the back, preferably with a clean sheet, take your chance(s), avoid being caught on the break, have a goalkeeper that will bail you out of any problems. If they are a STRONGER opponent, FAIL TO FIND A WAY THROUGH AND CONCEDE A GOAL.

Playing away

Gloucester ....... 1-1 HARROGATE
Match the effort of your opponent, maintain your composure, keep it tight at the back, preferably with a clean sheet, take your chance(s), avoid being caught on the break, have a goalkeeper that will bail you out of any problems. If you take the lead, DON’T CONCEDE A GOAL WITHIN A MINUTE OF SCORING AND THAT BECOMES THE FINAL SCORE.

F.C. Utd Man...... 1-0 TAMWORTH
Match the effort of your opponent, maintain your composure, keep it tight at the back, preferably with a clean sheet, take your chance(s), avoid being caught on the break, have a goalkeeper that will bail you out of any problems. If you can’t get the lead, DON’T CONCEDE A GOAL IN THE 94th MINUTE (or any injury time minute) AND THAT BECOMES THE FINAL SCORE.

Let’s see who plays like a Top 7 team next week, 6 of the Top 10 at home, with 4 opponents being Top 10 also, a reminder of a huge weekend upcoming.
DARLINGTON vs BRACKLEY (3.00)
FYLDE .......... vs KIDDERMINSTER
HALIFAX ....... vs Gloucester
HARROGATE .. vs CHORLEY
SALFORD ...... vs STOCKPORT
TAMWORTH .. vs Gainsborough

The consistent teams will most likely play like Top 7, Darlington, Brackley, Salford & Stockport need to show it the most, Halifax could jump up to the tail end of the Top 4 with a win and some results going their way. For Darlington, it's simple, just win.

Just noticed next Saturday that Salford play Stockport and Chorley go to Harrogate so if we can beat Brackley we will certainly eat into the points gap above us and put us right back in the mix.Massive game and hopefully a cracking atmosphere.

Corrected, too early for the beer when I wrote it. John Beck played for QPR in the 1970's, showing my age!!!
