Pitch deal falls through

Post by Darlo_Pete » Wed Mar 08, 2017 6:44 am

I've heard that the deal to buy Boro's pitch in the close season has fallen through.

Wow a rumour that a rumour isn't happening- we should debate that endlessly.

Our ex-groundsman that used to do our pitch at Bishop. Apparently he's also looking after the York City pitch now one evening per week. He's a busy bloke.

Also it wasn't a rumour as other people had confirmed what I'd originally said was correct. I know it's hard to believe but I am occasionally right.

If just 900 of us donate 10 sq yards of turf, we could have a pitch bigger than anything in the Premiership. ;)

I wasn't doubting just curious. Like everything else I'm sure there's 900 souls who'd chip in but as always it's the labour costs that push the price up.

Highly unlikely we had a deal with Middlesbrough to buy their pitch!!

Blackwell Meadows needs digging up properly (similar to Bishops) if the pitch is going to be done properly. The surface of a football pitch is only as good as the ground beneath it.

If Pete says we did then we did, he has his finger on the pulse

A few unnecessary digs at Pete here. I was also told about the deal for the pitch and this was by one of our players.

Thanks ste. Yes I was first to mention it on here, but a few posters have confirmed that they heard the same thing.

Would have to agree that Pete wasn't the only one to hear the rumour that we were trying to arrange a deal with Boro to purchase a pitch from Rockcliffe Hall at the end of the season.

Although other work was also in the plan to add sprinklers etc. which I think MG made common knowledge that's what he wanted.

Nowt wrong with our pitch at BM, I have just watched the game between Rostov v Man Utd on tv. Our pitch is far better than theirs so must be up to Euro competition standard

Boro are digging up their pitch and I believe we as were other clubs offered it as it saves them disposing of it but don't think it ever got anywhere. BA spent nearly a £100k on their pitch can't see us spending anything near that much but Blackwell needs a lot less work done do it. Let's all trust in the current management it seems the strongest we have had for a long time with none of them about to jump ship because things get difficult:

£43k was originally set aside, however things have moved on since then

Interesting to hear Hull City owner Marco Silva saying how "impossible" it is to share the KCOM stadium with Hull FC rugby league. Also rumblings in Swansea about ground share with Ospreys. Obviously, we are not alone.

So he is the manager not the owner and you have removed all context from what he said.

He said it is impossible to play the day after.
