73' | Mark Beck sends a header goalwards off a Gillies free-kick but it's straight at the keeper! Still 0-0 here.

Darlington finally make the breakthrough, Cartman at close-range after Galbraith’s shot was saved by Singh following a right-wing cross. 1-0

What beauty by Phil Turnbull His first goal for Darlington is rifled into the roof of the net with a first-time finish after Cartman's pass.

Get in. Well done MG and the players.
Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
Sod it you wait all that time to score your first goal for the club only for it to be totally overshadowed by the Bloody defence keeping a clean sheet! Well done to MG and all the squad. Looking forward to a trip to County next Saturday.Darlobaz79 wrote:Turnbull scores YES Turnbull scores!

Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
Very poor game until Cartman scored with a stooping header. Turnbull's goal was class and it should look great on the goal cam. Thought the defence was excellent and really pleased for Jameson that we kept a clean sheet. Galbraith was MOTM again, he hit in some superb dead balls and he had some great crosses in the second half. Overall a satisfactory result and better than the performance.
Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
Cartman.... scored one and made one in a game that had looked like it might fizzle out into a 0-0 draw. There's no arguing with that.

The first sentence sums everything up. Fortunately Gloucester were rubbish in front of goal. ....But it was great to see Turnbull's goal.Darlo_Pete wrote:Very poor game until Cartman scored with a stooping header. That's what I were gonna say, It's a good job we played them today cos if we played like that against a top team we would of lost.. We were awful but it's all about the result the lads dug deepMission Impossible wrote:The first sentence sums everything up. Attendance was 1,837...what are thoughts on that? Bit of an unexpected dip for me I really didn't think we'd go lower than 2,000 at BM.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
Reality check , can't believe people thought we we're gonna hit over 2000 each game we have a hard core and now a few hundred Extra... I heard a couple of lads in the bookies today say Can't be arsed to to watch Darlo today , it only takes this mentality of more people then we start losing them...lo36789 wrote:Attendance was 1,837...what are thoughts on that? Quite a few reasons for the dip, but the main one I suspect was the weather, followed by who our opponents were and the absence of away fans.
It doesn't surprise me, and if the game had of been played at Bishop? Possibly 400/500 less?

Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
think can't believe is a bit far. All other clubs who have gone into fan ownership, been exiled and returned home have had an uplift in crowds. Both relative to their pre-return home crowds and their pre-fan ownership crowds.HarrytheQuaker wrote:can't believe people thought we we're gonna hit over 2000 each game
Don't know why we would be different to the norm.

A good 500/600/700 up on what we would have had in Bishop if it was played there today.lo36789 wrote:Attendance was 1,837...what are thoughts on that? Bit of an unexpected dip for me I really didn't think we'd go lower than 2,000 at BM.
Darlo v Colwyn Bay last season on Sat 23rd January our first Sat home game for 2 months, attendance 1,077.
Some people thought the game may be off, a lot of local games being called off due to frozen pitch and no update from the club at all, granted the answer may be that the game was never in doubt but it could have been clarified. It was a cold day and our form isn't great, it's the middle of Jan and some will be skint.
Taking all that into account think it was a decent crowd really, although I did predict a couple hundred more.

It was such a cold day and I suspect a lot of people thought twice and maybe decided they'd rather be somewhere warmer. Additionally results haven't been good recently and the team have slipped downwards.lo36789 wrote:Attendance was 1,837...what are thoughts on that? First half was boring and instantly forgettable; both sides giving a masterclass in mediocrity. Second half substitutions livened it up. With Cartman's and Thommo's running, we began to look livelier; we'd been ambling along on half throttle before that.
Our first goal when it came - towards the end - was a relief. The announcement of five minutes extra time was met by groans in my part of the ground - given what had happened in extra time last week.
All the better then that the clincher, scored by Turnbull, was very similar to the goal that demolished us last week, a great one-two breakaway, scored with what looked like a left footer when our man sprinted forward with only the goalie to beat.
Galbraith deserved his man of the match award. His free kick deliveries in to the box were inch perfect and his overall competence in the game was obvious.
The scoreline was great but the match was awful and I think we must be sharper to put teams like Gloucester away much sooner and more decisively if we are to challenge for a play off position.

Re: Darlo v Gloucester Match Thread
The run of form we have been on would have put a few off and also know a few people who say they are waiting until everything settles down after negative feedback from first game
