I could see why he would sign a striker, if said striker was an upgrade on what we had. I can't see the point if you're bringing in an unproven, inexperienced kid, who you are hoping might be an improvement.

I thought he tried to sign a striker but he went elsewhere so Walker must have been second choice

Yes and that person was Richard Brodie.

I bet Gray hasn't seen him play. A lot of loans from youth teams are based on the opinions of the coaches of that team. I'd heard that Derby rate him highly so we've probably signed him on that basis. Some you win, some you lose. I agree that he'll have to do better, but willing to give a bit more of a chance
