DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
As explained further below this is a poll of DFCSG Members only, ahead of a vote which will be taken at the forthcoming AGM of the football club.
Regardless of what you may expect the outcome of the vote to be PLEASE DO VOTE as a high number of votes is very important in proving to the FA that any application to change the name represents the wishes of a significantly high proportion of our fan base.
http://dfcsg.co.uk/vote
The Board of Darlington 1883 are proposing a name change of the Club back to “Darlington”. This change must be presented and voted upon at the Football Club AGM which will soon be announced. As DFCSG hold a controlling interest in Darlington 1883 our vote will determine the outcome of the AGM vote.
As members of the DFCSG we would like to hear your opinion on the proposed change and the vote will be determined as a result of the poll. In order to ensure that only members of DFCSG vote we require your membership number and full name to match with our records. If you are unsure of these details please contact our membership secretary at:
Please note that the final decision for a name change rests with the FA. Our large membership base can be proven to the FA to represent an exceptionally high and significant proportion of our fan base so the more people who vote for the name change the stronger our case will be when we make our application.

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
Thanks for voting those who have already done so. We only have a few days to do this so any DFCSG members who haven't voted yet please could you dig your membership number out (or send a message to the membership secretary if you don't know what yours is - see the link in the post at the top) and get your vote in.
It only takes a few seconds to vote and it's vital that we get as many votes as possible (hopefully for the name change!) to help us to build a strong enough case to go to the FA with.

Great to see the vote is out there.
However, anyone voting to call us anying other than Darlington should be forced to eat endless printouts of Quakerz posts on here which explain why we should've been called Darlington from the off!

Done, let's drop the digits.
Great to hear an AGM will be held soon also.
Today has - off the pitch - been very positive. Well done the Board & DRFC.

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
We only have to choices? Missed opportunity surely.
Darlington FC ... p.s. Raj Singh, you are a c**t. And the FA you can go F**k yourselves 2, Kidderminster Harriers 1. I can see it on the Vidiprinter now
Perhaps it might not get FA approval.

I concur. I'd be stunned if the option to retain "1883" received even a single vote.Comfortably_numb wrote:Great to see the vote is out there.

Anyone who does should have their face used as a roller for the bobbly pitch.

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
Thanks once again to everyone who's voted so far.
As explained in the email which was sent to DFCSG members at the weekend we need to send the results of the poll to Supporters Direct within the next few days so it would be really helpful if any members who haven't already done so could take the time to register their vote by 8pm THIS EVENING. This will give us sufficient time to compile the stats to send to Supporters Direct.
Submit your vote here: http://dfcsg.co.uk/vote
Why Supporters Direct?
The Board have, in fact, already approached the FA about the prospects of changing our playing name and the FA have subsequently contacted a number of organisations about their views on our proposed name change.
One of the organisations the FA have contacted is Supporters Direct and they are happy to support our application but they have suggested that it will be helpful if we can provide them with some feedback in respect the views of our membership.
Supporters Direct have been asked to respond to the FA in the early part of this week.
Just to reiterate - it isn't the proportion of votes in favour that matter here, it is the absolute number that is important.
As also explained in the email the poll will remain open until 8pm on the evening prior to the DFC AGM because a resolution to change the club's name needs to be passed at this AGM (date to be announced) and the Supporters Group needs a mandate from its members in order to vote for the resolution.

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
I think one of the others will have been the Football Supporters Federation as mentioned here:Yarblockos wrote:Any idea who the other "organisations" are who will have a say on this?Mr_Tibbs wrote:The Board have, in fact, already approached the FA about the prospects of changing our playing name and the FA have subsequently contacted a number of organisations about their views on our proposed name change.

I don't know who else may have been contacted - possibly the Grimsby fans, but we'll have to wait and see.
Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
I fucking hate the FA more each day.
They never contacted any organisations to see if they minded us being forced into a name change and forced into being labelled as a new club, how come they want to ask everyone about us changing our name back?
Or should I say, ask to be able to use our rightful name - not change it back.
And what's Grimsby fans got to do with this?
Are they going to ask all of our mates in the Northern League as well? In particular the ones that get wood over nicknaming us "1883"?

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
Ultimately the FA will make the final decision but as far as we're aware they have contacted both the Football Supporters Federation and Supporters Direct to ensure that the name change is supported by the fans.

Done.
Alun's promise to the fans: “I’ll make sure I’ll bring players in that are value for money and I want players that want to play for Darlington Football Club, want to progress and move up the league and show the fans that passion.”

Re: DFCSG Members Poll: Change of Club Name
Well Twitter went into meltdown over this last night didn't it!
Trolls, trolls, everywhere.
Got mine and my Dad's vote in yesterday.
I am not too concerned but based on polls in 2016, you do worry how others are going to vote.

The poll is still open for voting until just before the DFC AGM so we don't have the final tally of votes yet.darlo reborn wrote:Will we get to know the result of the vote just out of curiosity ?
The DFCSG Board will probably announce it at or around the time of the AGM.
