Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Craig Stoddard says that Hardy has a back problem and that Marrs has an injured ankle. Saunders, he says, is a striker.Darlobaz79 wrote:Jameson, Hunter, Galbraith, Turnbull, Brown, Burgess, Gillies, Scott, Beck, Cartman, Thompson

Squad needs freshening up. Time for some new faces.

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Teams like Nuneaton will kill off football as a spectator sport - dire to watch and Darlo got sucked in. Thought Hunter had an excellent game at RB, wouldn't have picked Tez as MOTM. Midfield seem to be toiling.
Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
We really need to stop shipping sloppy goals, 20 conceded in the last 10 games means we have to score 3 to win a game. Maybe we need to go 4-5-1 to sort this out and start building from there.
There is clearly no confidence in the team anymore, with very little creativity on show today. Some players need to be taken out of the team, but with such a small squad there is no opportunity to do it. A couple of new faces would definitely help, hopefully MG will be able to bring someone in soon.

Yeah, they killed the game off perfectly, wasting time at every opportunity. Mind you, when you have such large spaces behind the goal and at the sidelines it doesn't help to gave no ballboys/girls!

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
We badly need freshening up, especially in midfield... I think we should at least try 4-5-1... Syers behind Beck but we need a centre midfielder...
Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
First half was OK, but that second half was dire. Something needs to change as we've been stuck in a rut for a while now. No idea what Brown was thinking of for the penalty, and how he stayed on the pitch after that "tackle" later on I've no idea. Nuneaton played the perfect away performance - wasting time at every opportunity, and then pouncing on our mistakes. Cracking finish to win it though. Ref should've got a grip of their time wasting earlier - they were taking the mick, and even ignoring him when he belatedly started telling them to hurry up - but no complaints about the penalty.
Saunders looked OK when he came on - he's got pace, which is something we seemed to be lacking today.

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Saunders I was impressed with, caused them some problems with his pace and quick feet. Would like to see him play again.
Was nothing more heartbreaking than that winning goal though, absolutely crushing.

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Bolocks swansquaker, they came and did a job on us they are a fulltime outfit,TommyWright has turned them round in the last eight weeks ,seven wins almost the same team we drew with early on ,Tommy Wright has added two players one being Exodus Geohagan, we just weren't quite there today, but it will be put right next week. Brown did not touch there lad ,he covered the ball allowing it to go out of play there lad came in and went down as legs clashed nothing sinister in anyway which was seen by the linesman.good decision.
Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
I'm all for being positive usually but that was inexcusable today. Reckless, immature and so stupid. You nick a scarcely deserved injury time equalizer, you take it. What on earth were we thinking piling bodies forward and leaving 2 men back to be done by a silly long ball? Ridiculous.
Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Going for the win our tail were up and we got done from a long ball, all bodies up field two left at back,
Well taken ball and goal ,

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
Thought we were very poor all over the park today with possible exception of Galbraith who stood out for me.
Agree with onewayup on the Brown foul incident, he shielded the ball out and I thought the lad ran into him..I didn't even think it was a foul but they tried their hardest to get Brown sent off. The linesman never flagged at all for the incident.
We did a lot of huffing and puffing but with no real pattern about our play..They on the other hand were very disciplined and organised. they all new what they were doing..Suppose that comes from being fill time.

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
That's my only qualm today - we need to learn when a point is a good point an today it definitely was. It's all a learning curve though. In the past we've always been the best team in the league and therefore entitled to think we should win and that mentality needs slightly adjusting.Breedon wrote:I'm all for being positive usually but that was inexcusable today. Interesting how much we passed it in the first half and while we looked decent we just lacked that cutting edge. Would probably have been different had Scott'a header gone in.
Second half when we went more direct it became obvious why we tried to pass it around in the first half - Nuneaton marshalled but Big Ex were a very solid proposition at the back in the air. Lack of discipline cost us today, nothing more. If we can stay switched on for 90 mins we'll be fine.

Re: Nuneaton Match Thread
I thought this was a difficult one to sum up, I didn't think Nuneaton ever looked like scoring and a penalty (which they got) seemed likely to be the only way they would nick one.
From where I was, it did look like a clear penalty.
We worked as hard as ever and we were difficult to break down, but it appeared to me that we couldn't create enough opportunities to get near enough to their goal to get sufficient shots away.
Clever balls getting through to Cartman got snuffed out by bigger defenders turning their backs to obstruct him. We hit the post in the first half and if that had gone in it could have been a different outcome.
The second half was little different. It was right that their goalkeeper got booked as he really slowed the game down with his deliberately casual time wasting.
At one point there was an interesting fracas between players next to the little stand and I thought that might liven things up but it didn't. Our equaliser, when it came (near the end), was a surprise and our team went looking for the winner. Their second goal, when it came, was a real belter and an even bigger surprise.
I think this will have given MG food for thought and it will be interesting to see what changes have been put in place next week.
